Hello Trainers. Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have just been announced and the Generation 9 hype is crazy. One of the mysteries clouding the minds of players is what the new region is. The only thing that’s evident from the trailer is the open-world feel from Legends Arceus and the diverse array of biomes in the trailer. This piece covers possibilities for the region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Italy
Due to the European vibe of the town shown in the game, there is a good chance that the region could be based off of Italy. The buildings give off an aesthetic that could be used in support of an Italian-based region and the Plaza definitely can be used to house restaurants that cater to Italian-inspired eateries. However, there is one other country that has substantial support.
Spain
It is highly likely that the Gen 9 region is based on Spain. Looking back at the trailer, there are several small details that one can use to point this out. How built into each other they are lend themselves to this thought. This style of housing is common in Spanish countries. Second, one can find the plaza shown in the trailer in many Spanish cities. Having art in them is very iconic to Spanish culture as well. However, there is also one big detail that factors into this and that is the building with the Pokeball designed into it.
According to Dualshockers, this building bears a striking resemblance to the Sagrada Familia, a piece of Spanish architecture designed by Gaudi. And when one looks up the Sagrada Familia, this is what they find.
Even with the slight resemblances in the top of the pillars, the resemblance is clear. Lastly, if one looks at the screen from the footage of the protagonists’ room, the map of the region supposedly resembles Spain. Therefore, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that the Generation 9 region is based on Spain.
Conclusion
While this is pure speculation, the evidence is compelling and fun to look at. This hopefully has given players an idea of what the new region from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be like. It is too early to know what the name of the region is. However, people might be able to make some guesses. Stay tuned for more info from The Game Haus.
