The tank meta in Overwatch 2 has been through some drastic changes. With Season 6 of Overwatch 2 in effect, it changes once again. The question that’s on everyone’s mind is what is the Overwatch 2 tank tier list in Season 6?
What Is The Overwatch 2 Tank Tier List In Season 6?
Keep in mind that this tier list is 100% debatable and subjective. Feel free to leave a comment below if there’s some disagreement. This tier list is created based on the current assault meta, hero difficulty, team comps, and counters. When playing the tank role, it’s important to not only mitigate damage for your team but to also take up space while also dealing some damage and protecting the team as well. The higher the tank heroes on the tier, the greater the odds of doing just that.
S-Tier Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes
Zarya
Zarya is the most valuable tank in Overwatch 2. What she lacks in mobility she makes up for in damage and her utilities. She can counter against the top tanks, at times including herself, and can activate her bubble shield for herself or her teammates. The more damage she or her team takes while it’s active, the more damage she can dish out. With this in mind, she has perfect synergy with her team creating big plays. Her ultimate also allows for the team to cause some havoc as well.
Orisa
Orisa’s abilities allow her to not only get the upper edge on tanks such as Junker Queen, but allows her to go toe to toe with some DPS heroes as well. Her javelin throw and javelin spin abilities can not only counter enemy abilities, but can negate damage too. Unlike Reinhardt, Orisa doesn’t have a shield, but she can eat tons of damage for her team, especially with her fortify ability. The main counter problem she has is against Zarya as she can easily charge her bubble.
A-Tier Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes
Ramattra
What prevents Ramattra from getting into S-Tier is the lack of damage he’s able to provide for his team competed to Zarya and Orisa. However, he’s excellent at pressuring the enemy team in his nemesis form and also eating damage as well. He can also provide protection using his barrier for long-range DPS teammates. He proves to be a versatile pick that many should look into if interested.
Junker Queen
Junker Queen is a self-sustainable tank that’s able to not only do damage but to keep herself in the fight for as long as she can. Her kit gives her access to the best of both worlds in a sense. What prevents Junker Queen from being further up on the list is the fact that she can be hard counter by Zarya and Orisa in fights as they can burst her down.
Winston
Unlike Doomfist, Winston is the better dive tank out of the two. Not only is Winston extremely mobile as well, but he can still aid his team with his bubbling, shielding them from damage. He’s also great for countering dive DPS heroes as well as stopping them from eliminating teammates. When looking for a dive tank, Winston should be the go-to pick.
B-Tier Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes
Reinhardt
In terms of usefulness, Reinhardt can easily protect his team. With his shield also receiving a buff this season, he can mitigate tons of damage while also providing lots of it through his melee swings, charge, and fire strike. He also pairs well this a majority of heroes and combined with his Shatter can be absolutely devastating. The issue with picking him as of right now is his counters which are Zarya, Junker Queen, and Orisa.
D.VA
D.VA is a solid pick in terms of creating synergy with teammates. She works well with the majority of the roster. Not only that but her kit allows her to mitigate tons of damage for her team and take up space allowing for her team to do some damage as well. And of course, her ultimate comes in handy when in a pinch. The only downside to D.VA is players need to be cautious of their cooldowns as when she’s out of utilities she can take quite the beating and can’t provide much for her team.
C-Tier Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes
Doomfist
Doomfist has received some buffs to some of his abilities this season which makes him a better pick compared to last season. However, with Doom strictly being a heavy dive tank players will need to secure their eliminations if they choose to play as him. Doomfist constantly will leave his teammates open providing no cover for them whatsoever. With every failed attempt at wiping the enemy team, the more he hurts his own.
Sigma
Sigma is a tank that mainly thrives in heavily congested areas which allows him to fling his projectiles at ease. His shield is able to protect his team from long-range heroes stopping snipers from getting easy picks. Combining his kit together can provide some serious amounts of damage making him a decent protector. However, a better choice would be Ramatra as he can do what Sigma can, but better.
D-Tier Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes
Wrecking Ball
Not only is Wrecking Ball considered to be annoying in all aspects, but he’s also just not practical in the new meta. Ball is a very map-dependent hero which can make him useless if the setting isn’t right. If against him he becomes a liability for the team providing no protection or aid whatsoever. When used for getting onto the objective he shines the most when contesting until the calvary arrives. In general, there are much better picks than Wrecking Ball.
F-Tier Overwatch 2 Tank Heroes
Roadhog
Roadhog has been getting the worse treatment out of any hero in Overwatch 2. Sadly, he has been nerfed into the ground making him almost useless in any given scenario. The only redeeming quality he has to help his team is his hook ability, however, even then, most heroes that counter against him are able to avoid it or block it entirely. Until something is done, it’s better to just leave Roadhog alone.
