EA Sports’ Madden franchise has the daunting task of ranking all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with the initial rankings of players. So, The Game Haus will be analyzing the most questionable ratings for players on every NFL team.
Here are the most questionable Madden 21 ratings for the Green Bay Packers.
Aaron Rodgers – 89
Aaron Rodgers was disrespected by the Packers’ in the draft when they refused to draft him a wide receiver in the deepest receiver draft the NFL has seen in years. Now, he has been disrespected by Madden 21 with a rating of only 89.
Rodgers’ numbers took a slight dip in 2019, sure. But he was throwing to the likes of Allen Lazard and Jake Kumerow. Even still, he threw 26 touchdowns to only four interceptions and led the Packers to a 13-3 season culminating in an NFC Championship Game appearance. He also threw for over 4,000 yards for the eighth time in his career (again, while being surrounded by no-name talent).
The Super Bowl champion and MVP, eight-time Pro Bowler, two-time All-Pro and league MVP will continue to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league. In Madden 21 ratings, however, he is outside of the top five highest-rated quarterbacks.
Knowing Rodgers, he will not take these slights laying down. He has always had a chip on his shoulder and proves doubters wrong at every turn. Look for him to have an even bigger year stats-wise in 2020, and for the updated roster to place him firmly in the 90s.
Adjusted Rating – 94
Aaron Jones – 90
Not one, but two Green Bay “Aarons” were given lower ratings than they deserved in Madden 21. Jones, however, at least landed in the 90s, so there is that, at least.
Jones was tied for the league-lead in rushing touchdowns in 2019 and rushed for over 1,000 yards. He also added three and 474 more yards through the air. He stayed remarkably healthy and pushed his career yards per carry to five. As Green Bay kept losing receivers, Jones became the x-factor on an offense that featured Aaron Rodgers of all people.
The highlight of his season, if one had to pick was a huge four touchdown performance against the Dallas Cowboys, whose front-seven is well above average. He also rushed for 100-plus yards five times during the season.
All of these numbers point to Jones being on the rise in the Packers’ offense, but Madden 21’s rating implies that he has not already arrived. With the draft pointing toward an even heftier power-run focused offense, the rating of 90 will look dated pretty quickly in 2020.
Adjusted Rating – 93
Kenny Clark – 90
Nose tackles are becoming more and more underrated in the NFL, and Kenny Clark’s rating of 90 may be a product of him being one of the best of an under-appreciated position. However, putting Clark in the 90s feels a little too generous.
He had six sacks last season, the same as his 2018 campaign in which he played three less games. His solo tackle and quarterback hit numbers were both down from his 2018, also. In short, a lot of his stats either plateaued or took a small dip.
The Packers’ defense took a huge step last season with some great signings, and the “Smith Bros.” probably hampered Clark’s production a bit, but a rating of 90 implies game-changing status on a player’s part. Clark is not quite that. He is a solid all around player who stays consistent, but never stands out.
Adjusted Rating – 87
