The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: Los Angeles Rams.
Nickell Robey-Coleman- 84
Robey-Coleman is a solid slot corner for the Rams. He is infamous for the pass interference no-call against the Saints in the NFC Championship, but should be recognized for his play. Madden may have gone a little overboard with his 84 rating. He had four passes defended and one interception last season.
His own teammate Marcus Peters didn’t have his best season, but still finished the year with eight passes defended and an interception. Both players should be rated similarly, but Peters was given an 82 rating.
Adjusted Rating- 82
Jared Goff- 83
Every year Goff keeps on getting better, but his Madden rating doesn’t necessarily reflect that. In 2018, he threw for 4,688 yards, 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 64.9 percent completion. All of those stats were the highest in his career. His 83 rating was too low, as it made him tied for the 11th best quarterback in the NFL.
Goff has the same rating as Baker Mayfield, who had a fine rookie season, but likely doesn’t deserve the same rating as Goff. Mayfield threw for 3,725 yards, 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on 63.8 percent completion in 14 games. Goff should be rated a tick or two higher than Mayfield for the time being.
Adjusted Rating- 85
Samson Ebukam- 80
Ebukam is a young linebacker for the Rams who finished last season with 40 tackles and three sacks. It is a solid campaign for a second-year player, but not great. Madden still deemed his play good enough for an 80 rating.
Mario Addison for the Carolina Panthers had nine sacks and 35 total tackles. While they are different styles of outside linebackers, Addison played better in what he was asked to do, which was rushing the passer. Ebukam should be rated the same, if not lower than Addison.
Adjusted Rating- 75
Corey Littleton- 75
Last season, Littleton had a breakout year. He had a total of 125 tackles to help lead the Rams’ defense. Although he looks to have a lot of promise, Madden didn’t seem to recognize his talents fully and gave him a 75 rating.
Madden also gave Nick Kwiatkoski of the Chicago Bears a 76 rating, even though the most tackles he has had in a season is 46. Littleton should be rated a few points higher, while Kwiatkoski should be much lower based on their production.
Adjusted Rating- 79
