Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will compete against each other in a $9 million match-play event on Thanksgiving weekend this year.
The event will just be between the two seasoned golfers. B/R Live and DirectTV will have the rights to the event.
Woods has won 14 majors and is among the most popular golfers of all time. He hasn’t been the dominant player that he was in the early 2000s, but has been making strides as of late. In the PGA Championship just over a week ago, Woods finished second. He is 44-years-old.
Mickelson, a 48-year-old, has won five majors in his career. This season he has six top 10 finishes. Behind Woods, Mickelson also has one of golf’s biggest followings.
The two golfers have been rivals throughout their careers and this event will allow two of golf’s most noticeable names to square off during a time when the sport doesn’t get much coverage.
