The 2023-24 NFL season has begun which means fantasy football is back! Already after the first week of the season the perception of multiple players have been changed in the world of fantasy football. Although, it’s important not to overreact to what happened in the first week of the season because there’s a lot of season left. Since every week is important it would be irresponsible to start a player with a rough matchup over a player with a more favorable one that is ranked or projected to perform similar to the original player. Here are fantasy football Week 2 tight end rankings.
*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to the Injured Reserve List
(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)
Key:
Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They Will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.
Starting TE1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a solid floor.
TD Dependent Starter- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not because of depth at the position. Their production is based on whether they can get in the end zone or not. It can be the difference between a top 10 performance or a top 25 performance
Deep League Starter- a player whose ceiling isn’t high but should put up enough production to be started in deep leagues. When a player like this is started it is because their production though it will likely be low, will be better than a few options.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday
TE1 Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
Travis Kelce hyperextended his knee two days before the 2023-24 season opener. Kelcemissed the Chiefs’ first game of the season. If Kelce misses Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars Noah Gray moves up to TE21 between Hunter Henry and Dawson Knox.
TE2 Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens
Mark Andrews missed last week’s season opener with a quad injury. He was limited in practice on Wednesday. If Andrews misses Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals Isaiah Likely moves up to TE27 between Noah Fant and Juwan Johnson.
TE4 Darren Waller, New York Giants
Darren Waller missed practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury. If he misses New York’s Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals Daniel Bellinger becomes the TE24 between Adam Trautman and Gerald Everett.
TE8 Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pat Freiermuth could be limited this week by a chest injury suffered in Pittsburgh’s season opener against the San Francisco 49ers. If Freiermuth misses Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns Casey Hayward becomes the TE32 between Austin Hooper and Durham Smythe.
TE17 Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans
Dalton Schultz was limited in practice on Wednesday with a thigh injury. If Schultz was to miss Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts Teagan Quitoriano would become the TE37 between Taysom Hill and Donald Parham Jr.
Players that are currently not expected to play
Greg Dulcich, Denver Broncos
Greg Dulcich is expected to miss multiple weeks with a hamstring injury. He technically doesn’t have a backup on the roster because Dulcich fills the Joker role on the depth chart. However from the traditional tight end position Dulcich’s work should be given to Adam Trautman.
