The 2023-24 NFL season has been outstanding so far. Already there have been a ton of breakout players and fantasy duds that have made the game so entertaining. Bye weeks have started to take place. However, there are none this week. So Fantasy Managers will have full utilization of their roster and plenty of options to choose from when selecting who to start the week. On top of that, Injuries have started to mount up at this point of the season as well. It’s always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the fantasy football week 12 quarterback rankings.
[Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to Injured Reserve List]
[Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week]
Key:
Must Start- a player who should definitely be in your lineup that week because of the combination of matchup and talent. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and could repeat the production most weeks.
Starter- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.
Low-End Starter- a player who should be started in most lineups but can possibly bottom out and finish below average on a given week. A high ceiling play in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Streamer- a player who could be a perfect replacement for a starter for a week or two. Starting this player may not win you your lineup but they will make sure that your production out of that position will not lose you your matchup either. Also a viable option in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Deep League Streamer- a player who could fill a void at a position in a deeper league. Their ceiling may be close to average point production at the position but their floor is enough to get through the week. A reasonable player to have in your lineup in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday
QB18 Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks
Geno Smith suffered an elbow injury last week against the Los Angeles Rams. Smith was able to come back in for the final drive of the game. However, Smith did miss practice on Monday because of the injury. It is unclear at this point if Smith will be ready to play in this week’s game. If Smith misses Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers Drew Lock becomes the QB24 between Kenny Pickett and Jake Browning.
QB19 Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
Derek Carr suffered a shoulder injury and a concussion two weeks ago against the Minnesota Vikings. Carr is still in concussion protocol. If Carr misses Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons Jameis Winston becomes the QB18 between Jordan Love and Geno Smith.
QB28 Mac Jones, New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have not named a starting quarterback for this week. Late last week against the Indianapolis Colts Bill Belichick benched Mac Jones for Bailey Zappe. If Jones is benched for Zappe in Week 12 against the New York Giants Zappe becomes the QB29 between Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Tommy DeVito.
Players that are currently not expected to play
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Last week against the Baltimore Ravens Joe Burrow suffered a torn ligament in his wrist. This injury will end his season. Jake Browning is expected to be Cincinnati’s starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. This offense should be more balanced and possibly run heavy as the Bengals try to make a late playoff push down the stretch.
Zach Wilson, New York Jets
In last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Robert Saleh benched Zach Wilson for backup Tim Boyle. It was announced on Monday that Boyle will be the team’s starting quarterback and Wilson will move to third-string behind Trevor Siemian. Wilson’s season and career with the New York Jets are both very likely over. New York will likely release Wilson this offseason allowing him to sign with a team and compete for a roster spot in training camp.
