Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 6. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
1. Tank Bigsby, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Tank Bigsby has gotten more involved in the offense as the season has gone along. So far this season, he has 273 rushing yards, 28 receiving yards and two touchdowns. This past week against the Colts, he tallied 13 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one catch for 28 yards.
Travis Etienne is still the starter in Jacksonville, but Bigsby is doing the most with the opportunities he is getting. Bigsby took over most of the work later in the game and it looks like the Jags will give him the ball if he is running better than Etienne. He is currently rostered in less than 10 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Tyrone Tracy, RB, New York Giants
Tracy was given the opportunity to play in the Giants’ backfield this week against the Seahawks. In the most he has played all season, he delivered. Tracy finished the game with 18 carries for 120 yards. He also had one catch for one yard.
Devin Singletary missed the game with a groin injury. It isn’t expected to be long term, but Tracy is a rookie who played well enough to start earning more opportunities. If Singletary misses more time, Tracy can be started. He is rostered in 18.4 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Jaylen Wright, RB, Miami Dolphins
Wright is a rookie that was behind several older players on the depth chart to begin the season. With injuries popping up, Wright has been able to see the field. In week 5 against the Patriots, he had 13 carries for 86 yards.
The Dolphins have had plenty of injuries already. De’Von Achane left the game against the Patriots with a concussion. Raheem Mostert played in week 5, but it was his first game back from a chest injury. Wright played well and can be added now and used if one of the other two running backs can’t play. He is rostered in just eight percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Downs was inactive for weeks 1 and 2, but has played the last three weeks with good results. This season, he has 20 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown. In week 5, Downs nine catches for 69 yards.
His recent production make him worth adding to the roster. He has looked better with Joe Flacco at quarterback, so things could change when Anthony Richardson returns. While he was on this list last week, he is still available in over 65 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Jalen Tolbert, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Tolbert was a second-round draft pick by the Cowboys in 2022, but he hasn’t produced much during his NFL career. That all changed in week 5. Tolbert finished the game with seven catches for 87 yards and the game-winning touchdown.
Brandon Cooks just went on IR with an infection, so he will be out for at least the next few weeks. That opens up the second wide receiver role for Tolbert, who did well in his first crack at it in week 5. He can be added and see how the next few weeks go. Tolbert is rostered in 7.6 percent of ESPN leagues.
