Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 16. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
1. Jerome Ford, RB, Cleveland Browns
Nick Chubb broke his foot and is out for the rest of the season. In week 15, Ford played well for the Browns against the Chiefs. He finished the game with seven carries for 84 yards and a touchdown. Ford also had a catch for two yards.
With Chubb not in the backfield, Ford should get most of the work down the stretch. To make things better for his value, Ford plays a bad Cincinnati defense in week 16, so he can be picked up and started if the situation is right. He is rostered in 32.4 percent completion.
2. Sincere McCormick, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
Over the last two games, McCormick has received a lot of the work out of the Raiders’ backfield. In week 13, he had 12 carries for 64 yards, while in week 14 he tallied 15 carries for 78 yards. He has failed to find the end zone this season and has just four catches for 12 yards.
The Raiders have said that McCormick has earned the starting running back role. Las Vegas still needs to play on Monday Night Football, but assuming he stays healthy and gets a decent amount of work, he is worth picking up. He is rostered in 32.6 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans Saints
While Alvin Kamara played against the Commanders, he had to leave the game with a groin injury. Miller was able to get some run in the game. He finished the game with nine carries for 46 yards. It was he most rushing yards he has had in a game this season.
Moving forward, Kamara has been listed as day-to-day. Miller should be picked up and can be played if Kamara ends up missing a game. It will be important to check the injury report this week. Miller is rostered in 8.0 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Marvin Mims, WR, Denver Broncos
Mims didn’t have the biggest week, but is still worth checking out. He has had his best games of the season in the last four weeks. In week 15 against the Colts, he caught four passes for 20 yards. He also had a nice punt return, but failed to reach the end zone.
The second-year player has registered double-digit fantasy points in two out of the last four weeks. Managers who pick him up will be relying on big plays, but it could be worth the risk down the stretch. He is rostered in three percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Tim Patrick, WR, Detroit Lions
The Lions have heavily utilized Patrick in the last couple of weeks. In week 14, Patrick had six catches for 43 yards and two touchdowns. He followed that up with four catches for 30 yards and another touchdown against the Bills.
With seven targets in week 14 and eight in week 15, Patrick has been a reliable player for the Lions. He can be picked up and if the usage rate continues, he can be played. Patrick is rostered in two percent of ESPN leagues.
