Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 14.
(Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
1. D’Onta Foreman, RB, Tennessee Titans
The Titans had a bye in week 13, which is likely why Foreman is still on the waiver wire. He had a good week 12 that not only helped fantasy managers who played him, but also made him a target to pick up last week. Foreman rushed for 109 yards and had three receiving yards against a tough Patriots’ defense.
He is now expected to lead the Titans’ backfield until Derrick Henry returns. With teams needing new running backs for the playoffs, Foreman is a candidate to be picked up and started. Foreman is currently rostered in 34 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Boston Scott, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Miles Sanders has gone down with another injury, which means the Eagles’ backfield is back up for grabs. Scott didn’t register any stats in week 13, but in week 12 he had 15 carries for 64 yards and one touchdown. He also had two catches for eight yards.
It could be anyone’s guess as to which Eagles’ running back is the best to pick up. Scott is currently RB35 in standard-scoring formats. If Sanders ends up missing time, Scott has proven to pick up the slack. Scott and the Eagles have a bye in week 13, but he could be a useful player in the playoffs for fantasy managers. He is currently rostered in 30.9 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. K.J. Osborn, WR, Minnesota Vikings
Adam Thielen had to leave the game against the Lions early with an injury. If he misses time, Osborn is a player that can be picked up and possibly played depending on the situation. He had four catches for 47 yards and a touchdown on seven targets against the Lions.
Moving forward, if Thielen misses time, defenses can focus on stopping Justin Jefferson, which will leave Osborn open. He has already had good games with both Thielen and Jefferson on the field, but his target share could go way up if Thielen is out. He is currently available in over 95 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Taysom Hill, QB, New Orleans Saints
Although he did suffer a finger injury, Hill played well (at least in fantasy) against the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. He passed for 264 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions, which is underwhelming, but he was saved by his rushing ability. Hill totaled 101 yards on 11 carries.
With his ability to run and probably find the end zone in the coming weeks, Hill is a quarterback who can be rostered, even if his accuracy is a problem. Assuming he can play through the finger injury, Hill could really help fantasy playoff teams. He is currently rostered in 36 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Detroit Lions
Rookies usually need some time to get adjusted to the NFL, then break out near the end of the season. That could be happening with St. Brown right now. Against the Vikings, he was targeted a season-high 12 times and finished the game with 10 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.
It looks like St. Brown is becoming a receiver that Jared Goff can trust. If he keeps on improving, he really is the only Lions’ receiver that can produce fantasy-relevant numbers on a consistent basis. He is available in over 93 percent of ESPN leagues.
