The 2021 NFL Draft is over, giving a clearer picture of rosters for the 2021 season. With that fantasy football rankings can be released. Here are the 2021 fantasy football standard scoring quarterback rankings. (Note: These are best used for standard-scoring leagues and will be updated until the season starts)
For Position Rankings: Big Board QB RB WR TE D/ST K
1-5
1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
While he finished the season ranked fourth for quarterbacks in 2020, Mahomes did have the highest points per game of any quarterback. With a revamped offensive line and most of his weapons back besides Sammy Watkins, Mahomes is the safest pick for the top quarterback of 2021 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings.
2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
The Bills gave Josh Allen more help and he produced in 2020 as the best quarterback. He racks up both passing and rushing stats, which greatly helps him. If the Bills decide to take away goal line carries, it could hurt his value a bit, but he should be fine.
3. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Before getting injured, Prescott was on a record-setting pace at quarterback. He should be back and ready for week 1. With all of the key players back on offense, Prescott could lead one of the best offenses in the league. The defense still is very suspect, so Prescott will have lots of activity this year.
4. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
After finishing as the second quarterback in 2020, Murray has been given an even better offense to work with in 2021. DeAndre Hopkins will be joined by A.J. Green in the receiving core and the offensive line is improved. Murray should be a top five quarterback in 2021.
5. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Rodgers put up MVP numbers in 2020 and ranked third for quarterbacks. His situation in Green Bay is up in the air, but if he suits up he should have another solid season. A trade to Denver, or some of the other rumored potential destinations, won’t change his value that much one way or the other.
6-10
6. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
He had a down season in 2020, as Jackson averaged just 22.79 fantasy points per game. His play resulted in him finishing 10th and he may struggle to work his way back to the top five, as the Ravens will have Ronnie Stanley coming back from a torn ACL, traded Orlando Brown and let Mark Ingram walk in free agency.
7. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
Wilson finished last season as the sixth-ranked quarterback and seems like he’ll have a similar season in 2021. The Seahawks will have Chris Carson back healthy, which gives them more of a threat on the ground, but Wilson has demonstrated some great chemistry with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, which should have him lighting up scoreboards this fall.
8. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert already proved he was one of the best quarterbacks in the league last year when he ranked ninth for quarterbacks and averaged 22.86 points per game. In a full 16 game season, he would’ve ranked seventh. With a year of experience under his belt and a solid wide receiving core, Herbert should finish in the top 10 of the 2021 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings.
9. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Will Brady ever show signs of aging? He won the Super Bowl and was the eighth-best fantasy quarterback in 2020. The Buccaneers literally brought everyone back and added Giovanni Bernard, so Brady should have another top-10 season.
10. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
A change of scenery will do Stafford a lot of good. Sean McVay’s offense made Jared Goff an MVP candidate once upon a time. With Stafford’s ability, he could also surprise. He ranked 15th last season and with more support around him, Stafford could work his way into the back end of the top 10.
11-15
11. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Hurts took over late in the season and produced for the Eagles. He won’t complete a high percentage of his passes, but he does add the ability to run the ball, which is huge for his fantasy value. Hurts scored a high of 37.8 points and a low of 17.3 points. He should push for a top 10 spot in fantasy and hopefully his passing will come along.
12. Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans
Last season, Tannehill proved that his play wasn’t a fluke when he finished seventh for fantasy quarterbacks. The Titans did lose Corey Davis in free agency, but they upgraded with the addition of Julio Jones, which helps Tannehill’s value.
13. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Unfortunately, Burrow’s rookie season was cut short due to an ACL injury. He should be ready for week 1 after averaging 17.87 points last season. To aid their young quarterback, the Bengals selected Ja’Marr Chase, Burrow’s former college teammate. He should be able to be a fringe top 10 quarterback.
14. Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings
Cousins quietly was the 11th-ranked quarterback last season, in large part thanks to rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson‘s emergence. The Vikings want to run the ball, but when the box is stacked, Cousins should be able to take advantage.
15. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are likely losing Julio Jones, which hurts Ryan’s value. He finished as the 12th-ranked quarterback last season and even with the addition of Kyle Pitts, Ryan will likely take a slight step backward in 2021.
16-20
16. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
Lawrence is going into a better situation than a lot of number one overall picks. He’ll have James Robinson and Travis Etienne both in the backfield. Marvin Jones was signed to go with D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault. He also has his own mobility to utilize. Lawrence will have some growing pains, but he could finish near the top 15 with a full season.
17. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
There is no doubt that Roethlisberger is aging. He did average over 18 fantasy points per game last season and the Steelers improved their offense this offseason with the additions of Najee Harris and Pat Freiermuth. They also retained JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson. Roethlisberger will slip a little bit, but don’t be surprised if he nearly 17 points per game this season.
18. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns
Mayfield did a good job of leading the Browns to the playoffs last season, but the team is built on the ground game and Nick Chubb. Getting Odell Beckham Jr. back from injury will help, but even when he had OBJ last season, Mayfield got off to a slow start.
19. Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts
A new team is exactly what Wentz needed. He had his best years under Frank Reich and will now be able to get back to it. The Colts will keep him well protected and he has emerging playmakers in Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman to go with T.Y. Hilton. He didn’t play well last year and averaged 17.78 points per game, so if he can stay healthy, he may even end up higher on this list when it is all said and done.
20. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
It’s now fully Tagovailoa’s team in Miami. They have traded for Will Fuller and drafted his former college teammate in Jaylen Waddle to give him receivers who create separation. Now, there isn’t an excuse to not take shots down field. Tagovailoa averaged just over 14 fantasy points per game, but with the team fully being his now, he should be able to produce at a higher clip.
21-25
21. Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have added Willie Snead and John Brown to the receiving core, but that likely won’t move the needle much. With some new faces on the offensive line, it is fair to expect that Carr won’t finish as a top 15 quarterback next season, even after ranking 13th in 2020.
22. Daniel Jones, New York Giants
Jones has struggled with turnovers over his career and finished the season as the 24th-ranked quarterback. There is reason to think he will improve slightly in 2021. He only played 14 games in 2020 and the Giants signed Kenny Golladay and then drafted Kadarius Toney to give him some playmakers.
23. Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
The Bears keep mentioning that he isn’t the starter, but Fields is the best quarterback on the roster. He could move up these rankings if officially given the starting role, as he will rack up points with his arm and his legs. With Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney and other weapons, Fields can succeed for the Bears.
24. Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints
Winston is the starter in New Orleans, but Sean Payton loves Taysom Hill. He isn’t too far removed from passing for over 5,000 yards and could have a huge comeback season.
25. Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco has also talked about how their former starting quarterback will be the starter, but it is not prudent to move up that high to draft a guy if he isn’t going to be a starter. Lance can run and thrown well, which will work well with Kyle Shanahan’s offense. He’s mentioned that there isn’t a great way to stop the zone read, which Lance can run well.
26-30
26. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Washington Football Team
In 2020, Fitzpatrick split time with Tua Tagovailoa and averaged 16.07 points per game. He’ll have a young star running back in Antonio Gibson and some solid receivers in Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel. Fitzpatrick is going to have some monster games, but if most of his career is an indication, he’ll also have some really bad ones too.
27. Teddy Bridgewater, Denver Broncos
Bridgewater has been named the Broncos starter and is the safer option than Drew Lock. He won’t wow anyone, but he can help the team win some games.
28. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
After finishing 18th in Sean McVay’s offense last season, Goff is likely going to take a hit this year. It isn’t entirely his fault, the Lions really don’t have much talent around him from a receiving perspective.
29. Cam Newton, New England Patriots
If Newton has the starting job and holds onto it for the year, he will rank much higher. He was the 16th-ranked quarterback in 2020 in just 15 starts. Losing Julian Edelman will hurt, but he was out for most of last year. The running ability and the tight end help that was added this offseason to the team will greatly help Newton’s value.
30. Sam Darnold, Carolina Panthers
Matt Rhule is trying to give Darnold a chance to revitalize his career. He needs to improve a lot and will have some help with Christian McCaffrey. The team did lose Curtis Samuel though and don’t have a great tight end for him to use.
31-35
31. Zach Wilson, New York Jets
Wilson is going to start for the Jets this season, so that helps. What doesn’t help him is that the Jets are still recovering from the Adam Gase era. It may take a few years before he is rosterable in redraft, one-quarterback fantasy leagues.
32. Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints
Whether the Saints start Hill is still up in the air, but if he does get the nod, he will move up these rankings. He still has a long way to go as a passer, but his running ability can’t be denied.
33. Drew Lock, Denver Broncos
While Bridgewater is the starter, Lock needs to stay ready to go in and produce if things go awry. Lock ranked 23rd in 13 games played during the 2020 season. He has Courtland Sutton coming back from injury and Jerry Jeudy emerging.
34. Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers
Garoppolo is still the starter, but that isn’t likely to hold up. If someone he holds on to the job before the season, he could move up about 10 spots in the rankings.
35. Mac Jones, New England Patriots
Cam Newton likely will get the starting nod in New England while Jones learns. Newton has been injured over the last few seasons, so Jones could get some reps this year and maybe take over the job moving him up the 2021 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings.
