Who is SASIN?
SASIN’s competitive history goes back to late 2016, when he competed in APEX Challengers. He is perhaps best known for his time on Foxes, a team that competed in two seasons of Contenders Korea. Notably, SASIN’s Hangzhou teammates Seong-wook “Ria” Park and Jae-hwan “Adora” Kang both spent some time on Foxes as well.
In December 2018, Foxes rebranded to White Whale Incheon E-Sports and began competing in Open Division. SASIN remained with them through the transition, and played with the team until the Spark picked him up.
SASIN is best known as a DPS player, with a particular talent for projectile heroes such as Pharah and Genji. He can also comfortably flex to off-tank, and will likely play D.Va and Zarya as needed.
SASIN on the Spark
Experience and flexibility both serve as driving forces behind SASIN’s pickup. His history in the professional scene will make the transition to the Overwatch League stage that much easier, while his comfort on both DPS and off-tank fits the adaptable play style that Hangzhou has demonstrated so far. Spark coach Gao “YinDong” Hang also commended SASIN’s coordination during tryouts, and believes that picking him up will allow for more room to explore strategies.
With Ria filling the off-tank role, SASIN will likely not start for the Spark just yet. However, picking up a second off-tank gives the team some more room to maneuver if Ria needs to step out or if they just want to try something new. With Hangzhou already looking so strong, the team clearly saw something in SASIN to add him to the lineup. Keep an eye out to see where he falls into place.
