Ninjas in Pyjamas are making moves quickly. They are jumping back into the PUBG scene and have signed Justin “MiracU” McNally, Laurynas “Gaxy” Rudys, Alex “vard” Gouge, Laurynas “Nbs” Kisielius as players and Martin “dohfOs” Lundén as coach.
If you recognize those names it is because they have been playing for Welcome to South Georgo, or WTSG, in Europe. Many wondered if they would be able to keep that name considering the new map Miramar didn’t have that town in it and the answer was that they wouldn’t have to worry about it.
One big name that you will notice is missing is Larsen. It seems likely that he may be stepping away to continue broadcasting instead of playing.
NiP is clearly very invested in this esport. They went from wanting to keep some players and create two teams, to letting them all go, to bringing in WTSG.
With the new league system coming about, it was likely that they would want to make moves to get into it, preferably in their main region of Europe. By locking down this squad it seems likely that they will be able to make the necessary pitch to get into the league.
This squad was able to succeed quite a bit as WTSG. They have played in most of the major tournaments finishing in 3rd for the PGI 2018 FPP and TPP. Also while they did not finish well in these tournaments they were able to get into the StarSeries Season 2 tournament and the GLL. Many feel that this team has the talent but, they have not been able to live up to it.
“Having played under the WTSG tag for a while, grinding it out to find the right fit, and now we’ve done just that. We can’t wait to get started and together build our own legacy and bring nip to new heights in the pubg scene.” -miracu
With a major organization behind them it is likely that this team will be able to come together more and make the progress necessary to finish higher in these tournaments.
When asked, MiracU was excited to join NiP,
“I think it’s safe to say that many of us are long-standing fans of Ninjas in Pyjamas. The organisation and the players in it are legends of their own, especially in the FPS genre where we come from. Beoming a part of that and joining NiP is obviously something that we’re extremely happy about.” -Miracu
The next steps for this team is to get into the league and to start re-establishing their style. If their recent performance is any indication, they have some work to do, but can reach it with the right preparation and support.
