One of the main things Overwatch fans have been waiting for is a plan. A way for them to look ahead and see what is coming. Communication by the Overwatch 2 dev team and the fans has been underwhelming at best. During the Overwatch 2 Reveal Event though, a path was finally laid out. Fans now know what to expect for not only the rest of the year but also some of 2023. In this path will be new Battle Passes. So with that, here is what was confirmed about the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass.

Below is the first look at an Overwatch 2 Battle Pass as shown during the Overwatch 2 Reveal Event.
As one can see, they are essentially doing exactly what every other Battle Pass has ever done. It will be a progression system based on how much someone plays. There will be a free model and then there will be a model that people can pay for. The free model will give people certain levels of the Pass while the paid-for Pass will give players every level.
Of course, to make this happen the Overwatch 2 team had to add more customization to the game. While no one knows the exact extent of what all of it will be there are some things that have been revealed. There will be gun charms, new skins, emotes, highlights and more.
Overwatch has long needed a system like this. While it is not innovative, it does bring Overwatch 2 into the modern era allowing it to be free-to-play. This will bring in so many new players and should help to grow the game and its following.
