Bastion was one of the most problematic characters in the original Overwatch. As a DPS character, he constantly tip-toed the line of oppressively strong or completely unplayable. His Kit was always a concern, and frequently underwent changes. From having a front facing shield, to having a terrible primary fire – Bastion has never truly fit in.
Now is a fresh start for the omnic DPS character. The Bastion Overwatch 2 Rework is here, and it looks at least to be a much more fun version of the character. Bastion is far more mobile, and no longer wants to sit a corner behind several tanks. In fact shields are almost entirely removed from the game.
Primary Fire
- Bastion’s primary fire now changes when he uses Reconfigure. The Default primary fire is the same as Overwatch 1. However in Reconfigure, Bastion turns into a slow-moving turret that unleashes a devastating flurry of bullets for a short amount of time.
A-36 Tactical Grenade
- Bastion fires a small sticky grenade that explodes after a short time. It also explodes on impact on enemies. The explosion also causes a knock back, allowing Bastion to reach higher ground.
Configuration: Artillery
- Basion becomes immovable, and fires up to three artillery blasts from far away.
Bastion may feel similar at first, but this Overwatch 2 rework brings a brand new life to the formerly abysmal DPS hero. The increased mobility from Bastion’s Reconfigure and sticky grenade are much needed quality of life improvements that are sure to win over players.
