The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2024 GameAbove Sports Bowl.
Pittsburgh Panthers Draft Prospects
Gavin Bartholomew, TE
Bartholomew joined Pittsburgh in 2021 as a freshman and started eight games that season. He has been a consistent performer since that point and could’ve gone pro after the 2023 season, but elected to return to school. This season, Bartholomew has 37 catches for 303 yards and four touchdowns.
At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Bartholomew has decent size for an NFL tight end. His consistent production will get him some NFL looks, as it is rarer to see a college tight end put up stats. He could be drafted in the later rounds of the draft.
Proejcted Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
Konata Mumpfield, WR
Mumpfield players his freshman season at Akron, where he was wildly productive. He transferred to Pitt and saw his production dip in 2022 and 2023, but he still played well. In 2024, Mumpfield boosted his production, finishing the regular season with 52 catches for 813 yards and five touchdowns.
At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Mumpfield needs to continue to fill out his frame. He became more of a big play threat this season, registering 15.6 yards per catch. Mumpfield may need to play special teams to help make a roster, which is something he has a little experience with.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
Other Draft Prospects: RB Desmond Reid (6th-UFA), DL Sean FitzSimmons (6th-UFA), S Donovan McMillan (6th-UFA), S/RB Derrick Davis (UFA)
Toledo Rockets Draft Prospects
Darius Alexander, DL
Alexander joined the Toledo program in 2020 and has developed well since that point. He started creating a huge impact in 2022 and has even improved in the following years. In 2024, Alexander has impressed with seven tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
At 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds, Alexander has solid size to play on the interior at the next level. He has registered some sacks, which can help him, but his bread and butter will nee to be defending the run. Alexander is a candidate to be selected late in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: Fifth Round Pick-Seventh Round Pick
Maxen Hook, S
Hook also joined Toledo prior to the 2020 football season. While he didn’t play much that season, he jumped into the starting lineup in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since. In 2024, Hook has registered 107 total tackles, four passes defended and two interceptions.
He has decent size for an NFL safety at 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds. Hook has proven to be good at tracking down ball-carriers and making tackles. For him to make a roster, he will need to make an impact on special teams.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
Other Draft Prospects: S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (UFA)
