Now we’ve reached the top five mid and top duos of the LCK for the 2019 season. These five duos are the best of the best, and when they meet on the rift, fans will be in for some amazing League of Legends. Without further ado, let’s take a look at where the remaining duos rank in the top five of the LCK. If you missed the first half click here!

5. Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon and Heo “ShowMaker” Su (DAMWON Gaming)

DAMWON Gaming dominated the Challenger Series and the Promotion series during the Summer Split. A lot of that domination was off the play of Nuguri and ShowMaker, who both looked amazing throughout the year. While they have shown that they’re able to completely destroy lower tier top and mid laners, they must now face some of the best players in the world.

Will they be able to stand up against the likes of Khan and Faker? That is yet to be seen, but as long as they show the ability to hold up against the amazing talent that Korea has to offer, DAMWON Gaming will have a great future ahead of them. With that being said, since it is still hard to say how they’ll do against the best in Korea, the DAMWON duo sits at the 5th spot on this list.

4. Choi “Sword” Sung-won and Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon (Griffin)

The breakout team and biggest surprise last season was by far the meteoric rise of Griffin. Every player on Griffin were some of the top performers in their roles and it’s no different for Sword and Chovy. Chovy was one of the best mid laners last season, having the distinction of highest KDA among mid laners and ranking near the top in most stats. Along with that, he showed a fairly solid champion pool, playing 11 different champions through the Summer Split, with wins on all but one of those champions. Meanwhile on the side of Sword, he was a master on tanks, having great performances with the likes of Dr.Mundo and Cho’Gath.

While both players are amazing, they do have some key weaknesses that causes them to take only the 4th spot on this list. For Sword, while his performances on tanks and bruisers are amazing, his play on carry tops has yet to be completely tested and remains a question mark for him. Then for Chovy, whose play on his core champions like Zoe is great, when put onto other champions will have a rough time and can be abused, as seen with his play on Irelia at times. Because of these weaknesses, the Griffin duo find themselves at 4th, but are still a very strong duo that other teams should be afraid of.

3. Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho and Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong (KT Rolster)

KT Rolster will have a very different roster going into 2019. With a team built around Smeb, a lot will be expected from him. While he has already been one of the best top laners in not only Korea but the world, he will need to continue his performance. Meanwhile joining him and completing the new top and mid duo for KT Rolster will be two-time split MVP, Bdd. Both players are capable of being the best players in their roles and together will prove to be a very dangerous duo for opposing teams to deal with.

However, both players come into the 2019 season with recent cases of underperforming. Smeb’s performance at Worlds was fairly lacking as he had trouble against top laners from other regions. Meanwhile Bdd’s underperformance played a role in Kingzone DragonX missing Worlds despite winning the Spring Split. If both players can show up and have amazing performances once again, this duo can easily be the best in Korea. But for now, because of recent performances, they sit at 3rd.

2. Kim “Kiin” Gi-in and Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon (Afreeca Freecs)

Afreeca Freecs made a big upgrade in mid lane by acquiring Ucal during the offseason. On top of that they managed to keep Kiin, a player that many considered to be the best top laner in Korea at the time. With Ucal still having room to improve off of an amazing Summer Split, this duo could one day become the top duo in not only Korea, but the World.

They’ll be able to fully show their abilities going into the 2019 season. Since if Afreeca wants to find themselves on top, it’ll be off the play of Kiin and Ucal. Luckily, that won’t be a problem as we’ve already seen from last season. Of course how well they work together is yet to be seen, but the future for Afreeca Freecs looks bright, which lands them in 2nd.

1. Kim “Khan” Dong-ha and Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok  (SK Telecom T1)

Finally we’ve reached the best top and mid duo for the upcoming 2019 season. After a very disappointing 2018, SKT rebuilt their roster and went huge this time. While maintaining Faker, they put around him other star players like Khan and Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong. The time to win is now for this team, and as such, expect some amazing play out of Khan and Faker.

There isn’t much that needs to be said for this duo, Khan is an amazing top laner that won the MVP award last split and can take over games solo. Meanwhile Faker is still an amazing mid laner that can destroy the up and coming prodigy mids of Korea. Together, along with the rest of the amazing team around them, SKT will be the favorites to win LCK this year. Because of how dominant this duo is and will be, they take the 1st spot on the list.
