PUBG will be having their inaugural global invitational in Berlin starting on July 25th. For this tournament they have invited the 20 best teams in the world. This includes both Gen.G Gold and Gen.G Black who finished in first and second place respectively at the 2018 PUBG Korea League (PKL) tournament.
“This is a great start for us. Both of our PUBG teams maintained a top ranking in the inaugural PUBG league and were ultimately able to punch our tickets to Berlin. We are so proud of both our teams for their hard work and perseverance,” said Arnold Hur, Chief Growth Office, Gen.G. “We look forward to the opportunity to compete against some of the world’s best teams at the PUBG Global Invitational.”
It will be interesting to see how they fair internationally. As this will be every teams first time playing each other professionally.
“Gen.G is proud to have teams and players competing at the highest level in the top esports titles around the world, which is a testament to our organization’s commitment to developing our teams and players abilities to an elite level” said Hur.
It is rare enough for organizations to have two teams that are good in different esports. Gen.G, not only has two in one esport, but they are the top two in the same league and will each have a chance at bringing home the first ever PUBG international title for Gen.G.
It has been a great year for the newly named Gen.G. Their Overwatch team, the Seoul Dynasty just finished up their season barely missing out on the playoffs. Their League team, formerly World Champions Samsung Galaxy, are tied for second in the tough LCK. And now, their PUBG team is taking the Korean scene by storm.
Gen.G is quickly make a name for themselves as a top tier organization not just in Korea but all over the globe. If they are able to bring home a championship in PUBG and League of Legends in 2018, there could be talk of Gen.G being the best organization in the world.
You can watch the international on twitch starting July 25th and you can check out everything that Gen.G is doing on their site.
