Cuyler “Huke” Garland, is a former world champion of Call of Duty. For players, to see Huke come so far yet spoil it over his recent antics, it is definitely concerning for himself as well as the Call of Duty community and Call of Duty League. This concern is being made as the situation surrounding Huke continues to escalate.
What Happened with LAN events with Huke and the Los Angeles Thieves
A lot of supporters of all of the Call of Duty league teams were extremely excited to see their favorite teams and players play an in-person major tournament yet again for the first time in more than a year. This was even more so for the supporters of the Los Angeles Thieves as they finally were about to see their best team assembled yet, or so they thought.
Shortly before the matches were played and the tournament officially started, all players and personnel that needed access to the event’s location were to be tested for COVID-19. This was two days before in order to enter the stadium. This was not a problem for players and teams, except for one player and one team in particular. That being Huke and the Los Angeles Thieves. The Los Angeles Thieves players had to arrive at the venue at a set time in order to get tested to be able to play in the event.
When Kenny Williams, the Los Angeles Thieves team captain as well as general manager, Eric “Muddawg” Sanders, decided to call Huke to tell them to make an account on this app for initial screening for COVID and to arrive at a certain time to take the real COVID-19 test on-site. Huke proceeded to tell them that he took one three days before, that they could use that.
Clearly missing the point made by his team captain and general manager, Huke then proceeded to be 40 minutes late after the time that the team was supposed to get tested. By the time he got tested, the thieves were already in their match playing with their substitute, Zack “Drazah” Jordan.
Reaction
Many people as well as the whole entirety of the Call of Duty league were shocked by the news as people thought the Los Angeles Thieves to be potential favorites to win the LAN. However, as a result, they eventually lost in the first round to bitter rivals, the Los Angeles Guerillas. Huke, later on, got benched as a whole from the team as a whole.
This is just one of the things that are on the Call of Duty timeline for Huke as he is involved in a possible lawsuit made by Ian “Crimsix” Porter for defamation as Huke claims that his former team, Dallas Empire, did not help him in regards to his mental health along with the Adderall abuse.
The Call of Duty League community is up in arms and is currently in a constant rumble as to which side is in the right and which side is in the wrong. Overall, this could be the possible breaking point for Huke as he is even threatening to move to another game like Valorant as the situation surrounding Huke continues to escalate.
