JurNii and GRVTY were initially listed as subs for the Atlanta Faze. Four of the Atlanta Faze Academy members –Â GRVTY, TurnUp2eZ, Zaptius and Abstraact – have been playing together since last November with JurNii being their newest pick up.
Player Profiles
GRVTYÂ first came into the scene during Infinite Warfare but it wasn’t until Black Ops IIII where he started finding success in a few GameBattles tournaments.Â
JurNii has been competing since Advanced Warfare. He has a lot of tournament wins across multiple Call of Duty titles including Black Ops II, WWII and Black Ops IIII under Team Heretics.
TurnUp2eZ comes from Aspire eSports. Similar to his teammate JurNii, he has a few tournament wins under his belt on Black Ops IIII including a top 24 placing at the 2019 Call of Duty World Championship.
Zaptius has competed with pros in the past like Havok, Assault and Simp back on Infinite Warfare and World War II consistently placing in the top 10 at the end of his Black Ops IIII season with almost every tournament he entered.
Abstraact doesn’t have a lot of information on him in regards to his tournament statistics or his top placings. He has one event listed which was a top 64 placing at Fort Worth last year but that’s about it.
Due to what little information there is on him, it will be interesting to see how he performs this weekend and in the future.
Where to Watch
There is no way to watch the Challenger’s Circuit as of right now unless one is at the venue. However, there is a way to watch their professional team play.
It was recently announced that the Call of Duty league will be streamed exclusively on Youtube Gaming. So, be sure to tune in here to watch the Call of Duty League in action this weekend. The Atlanta Faze will play the Dallas Empire today at 6:30 PM CT and the New York Subliners tomorrow at 5:00 PM CT.
Challenger’s League
The AF Academy are currently competing in the Challenger’s League alongside 167 other teams.
After successfully making it to day two with wins over Kaos United and Imperial Gaming, they are now in winners round four. And, they are still in the hunt for their share of a $250,000 prize pool and 25,000 challenger points.
Events like these will run all season long. Amateur teams like the AF Academy will be given the opportunity to compete in these open bracket competitions. They will be both online and across various Call of Duty local events with a minimum $10,000 prize pool for every home series event.
These tournaments are a way for up and coming pros (outside of the franchised league) to gain experience and exposure while still representing their parent organizations outside of the immediate pro circuit.
