Friendship Forged Through Competition
Heading into Advanced Warfare in 2014, the Call of Duty world was flipped on its head when Matthew ‘Formal’ Piper and Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter left Team EnVyUs to join OpTic Gaming. With this change, a friendship and bond was formed between Formal and Seth ‘Scump’ Abner. Scump and Formal coined the phrase ‘T2P’ – meaning ‘time to pound’ due to their domination on OpTic Gaming. The two played together for three-and-a-half years winning countless championships together and traveling across the world to do so.
The Breakup
During the WWII Call of Duty season the OpTic Gaming dynasty fell apart – an undesired outcome for many fans. With this change, Formal and Scump would not be playing for the same organization for the first time since 2014. As a result of this turbulent falling out it was apparent there was bad blood between the former teammates. After the split neither Formal nor Seth were winning as much as they had grown accustomed to over the years and something had to change.
Reunited and it Feels so Good
Upon falling short of the title at the Call of Duty World League Championship despite a strong individual performance, Scump decided it was time to make a change. On Championship Sunday, Seth gave Matt a call and said they needed to talk. After months of speculation and teasing fans of a potential reunion on Twitch and social media platforms, the official announcement came in fall 2019 — Scump and Formal were officially teammates again. The duo is back and their friendship is stronger than ever, setting them up for success in the inaugural CDL season.
