Misfits Gaming, owner of the Florida Mutineers, will be presenting a COD Modern Warfare 2v2 tournament with big football personalities ahead of the Super Bowl. Stars like Los Angeles Chargers Wide Receiver Keenan Allen and Los Angeles Rams Running Back Todd Gurley will compete. This tournament will be put on with Verizon Media’s mobile-first content brand, In The Know. The tournament will be going on this Friday, January 31 from 5pm-8pm. It can be watched live on the Florida Mutineers YouTube channel or on In The Know’s Facebook and Instagram pages. All of the Mutineer’s roster will be participating, in addition to Mutineers General Manager Tom “OGRE2” Ryan and other Misfits players.
If pro COD players and football players weren’t enough, famous casters Clint “Maven” Evans and Joe “MerK” Deluca will be casting the whole event. The full rosters are listed below:
- Keenan Allen and Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson
- Todd Gurley and Chance “Maux” Moncivaez
- Leonard Williams and Tom “OGRE2” Ryan
- Dwayne Haskins and Colt “Havok” McLendon
- Landon Collins and Caesar “Skyz” Bueno
- Leonard Fournette ad Bradley “Frosty” Bergstrom
- Ronnie Stanley and Cody “Clix” Conrod
- Davante Adams Hannah “NoisyButters” Bryan
Especially with the Mutineers strong showing at the launch weekend last weekend at Minnesota, this will be an exciting event to watch. Fortnite has already done two different Pro-Ams, and both were wildly successful. Call of Duty also did a similar event a few months ago. Content creators paired with US Army Esports players in the same format.
The event will bring together both football and esports to bring attention to the Call of Duty League. Already, the COD League had lower viewer count since switching to YouTube. Thus, by streaming this event on YouTube and not on Twitch at all, the COD League will hopefully find more success on the platform.
