The Minnesota Rokkr will be hosting their first home series of the CDL season. The last time they hosted was during Launch Weekend, which wasn’t in the current series format at the time. In that event, they participated in two matches and won them both. Now, they’ll be back at it again, but under unique circumstances of course.
Sure, it won’t feel like a true home arena advantage, but expect the team to be going in with a little more fire. Yes, that sounds a little cheesy, but it’s kind of true. Just because the team isn’t at The Armory, doesn’t mean there’s no pressure to deliver. At the end of the day, that Rokkr logo is sitting next to the words “Home” and “Series”.
After another disappointing performance in the Seattle Home Series where they got swept back-to-back by the Huntsmen and Optic, they head into the unknown once again. In their first match, it will be a rematch of the Los Angeles Home Series finals, as they take on the Dallas Empire. That was a classic series that went the distance, going five games before the Rokkr ended up falling. What will happen now?
Preview
Dallas Empire: 13-6-0
One of the most highly anticipated teams heading into the Call of Duty League season, the Empire had a shaky start before really taking off. Since starting as one of the CDL’s lower-ranked teams, they have won two home series’ and have reached three in total.
With Call of Duty greats like CrimSix and Clayster on the team, they pose quite the threat. With that said, the Rokkr took them to the brink under great pressure, so that experience should help them greatly, especially with the offensive firepower they possess.
Fun Fact of the day:
Rokkr head coach Brian “Saintt” Baroska lists Call of Duty Black Ops 2 as his favorite game in the legendary franchise.
Player to watch:
GodRx will be the man again after a roller-coaster series last time out. He has proven to be not only the Rokkr’s best players but one of the CDL’s elite. If he can get red hot again, then expect them to be a dangerous group once again.
