The Minnesota Rokkr have shot up the CDL standings, thanks to an impressive performance in Atlanta against some of the league’s top teams. They currently sit at fourth in the official standings with 40 CDL points.
They’re tied with Florida and London in points, but have a better record than both of them. On top of that, they’re only 10 points behind the third-ranked Paris Legion, who the Rokkr defeated twice at the Atlanta homestand.
Everyone on the team had amazing moments throughout and this showcases the depth that they have on the roster. They didn’t just lean on just a couple of players as everyone contributed. But one thing that popped out was the play of Alexx.
There were a couple of occasions where he lit up the stat sheet in Atlanta, dominating the competition. He is quickly starting to become the team’s “heat check” player, who delivers heavy blows when they need it most.
His stellar play ultimately helped lead the Rokkr to the semi-finals against the hometown Atlanta FaZe. Here’s how he fared in each game mode.
Hardpoint
Although it was in a loss, Alexx balled out in the first Hardpoint match against the Paris Legion. He was 30 and 26 in K/D, while also throwing in a thick 13 assists.
In there duel with the Chicago Huntsmen, he delivered again, notching up 25 kills, leading both teams. This ended up being a historic Hardpoint win for the Rokkr, who held the Huntsmen to only 107 points, the lowest points allowed in the CDL so far.
Alexx once again plugged up the microwave within his soul against the FaZe in front of their home crowd, dropping 29 kills, tying with Simp, arguably the world’s best sniper. He didn’t die as much however with 22 deaths versus Simp’s 25.
Search & Destroy
It’s tricky to have offensive outbursts in a low statistical mode such as Search & Destroy, but Alexx enjoyed some steady play. This includes a seven and five K/D in the first SnD match against the Legion with only teammate GodRX and the Paris’ Zed having more kills.
His next best SnD performance came against the FaZe where he dropped eight kills and only died three times. Eight kills in SnD is a lot; if a player manages to grab 10 or more, then that’s an en fuego round. Alexx came very close.
The Rokkr struggled with SnD in week one but started to find there groove in Atlanta. This can be thanked in part by the smoothly consistent play of Alexx.
Domination
He didn’t necessarily dominate (no pun intended) the first match of Domination against Paris, but he still put on quite a show. He notched up 25 kills, good enough for second on the team, and he threw in nine assists as well.
What’s maybe even more impressive is that he dealt the least amount of damage (DMG) on the squad at 1095. To get that many kills while only dealing that much damage is a testament to Alexx’s accuracy.
Although this was also in a losing effort, his Domination performance against the eventual home series champion FaZe can not be overlooked. His 23 kills were tied for third-most between both teams, and he did so by dealing the second most damage on the team.
Conclusion
Alexx has the ability to be a potent offensive threat for the Rokkr all season. It’s all a matter of if he can keep it up because it undoubtedly isn’t a fluke.
When he’s at the peak of his powers, he’s a killing machine. Even when he’s off, he still contributes in bits.
No proof is needed that he’s a terrific CDL player, as playing four times against the top three teams helped solidify how good he is. And ranking 10th in the league in K/D ratio at 1.12 helps plant his flag as one of the league’s best players.
