After Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there has been some speculation on whether Call of Duty is on Xbox Game Pass or whether will players just have to settle with buying the titles through other means.
Is Call of Duty On Xbox Game Pass?
As of today, there is no official confirmation of Call of Duty coming to Xbox Game Pass. With older Call of Duty servers being fixed, there is however speculation that players will see its arrival come around October 2023 when the merger fully goes through.
What Does This Mean for PlayStation?
As it currently stands, PlayStation players won’t have to worry about Call of Duty being a console exclusive for 10 years. After that, there’s no telling what Microsoft might do with the franchise. Like with past Call of Duty titles, there might be some console-exclusive features such as maps or skins for Xbox players. However, that’s just speculation for the time being.
Time to Dust off Those Old Cod Skills
There is some good news though. Following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Microsoft and Activision went ahead and fixed matchmaking on the older Call of Duty titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops II and the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Following a tweet from the Twitter account CharlieIntel, players started to see an improvement in matchmaking times.
No Disc Required
With next-gen consoles such as the Xbox Series X|S being all digital, some players aren’t able to insert an Xbox 360 disc into their system. However, there’s a simple fix to this. With backward compatibility functionality, players are able to purchase older Call of Duty titles digitally and enjoy them that way. Since everything is saved in the cloud your data transfers over as well.
