The Florida Mutineers have had their first experience on LAN here on Week One of the Call of Duty League. Here we dive into the two matches that the Mutineers played this weekend in this week’s Florida Mutineers Review.
Reviewing Week 1
Seattle Surge 0-0
As dimed by the Surge’s Twitter as the “Battle of the Tides,” the Seattle Surge and the Florida Mutineers duked it out at LAN for the first time. The match was the first Map 5 Alert of the season, and the it was full of fantastic clips. The
Florida won this match against Seattle because of Search and Destroy. On the first SND map, Cesar “Skyz” Bueno was having a stellar game, ending at 11-7 after nine rounds. Additionally, the Mutineers did a great job of shutting down Sam “Octane” Larew. Octane only collected four kills over the first map, and that put a serious hindrance on the Surge’s ability to get anything going.
As for the second SND map, the Mutineers executed textbook definition of a dominant performance. Skyz got off to a hot 4-0 start within the first two rounds, but that’s when Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson and Colt “Havok” McLendon stepped in and literally destroyed the Surge. Prestinni finished the map at 9-2, while Havok ended with an impressive 10-1 to complete a clean 6-0 sweep to end the match.
Player of the Match: Prestinni
Prestinni brought some world-class Call of Duty to the stage this match. There is no doubt he did plenty of leading during the maps, and he seems to always be all over the place. Prestinni dominated both SND maps, in addition to finding himself 32 kills during the Hardpoint map that the Mutineers took. Prestinni should continue to be a dominant force this season.
Los Angeles Guerrillas (0-0)
Unfortunately, the Mutineers fell to the Guerrillas 2-3. The Mutineers took an early map lead on Azhir Cave Hardpoint 250-176. Then in a closely fought map two, the Guerrillas took SND 6-5 on Gun Runner and then took the lead on Hackney Yard Domination 218-171. Florida came back and took Gun Runner Hardpoint 250-238 to tie the score. However, the Mutineers lost the match in a 4-6 loss on Arklov Peak SND.
The first hardpoint was a good opening for the Mutineers, however Andres “Lacefield” Lacefield had a great game regardless. Unfortunately for the Mutineers, Lacefield would prove to be a menace for the rest of the match. The second map came down to the wire, going into a 13th round. Florida gave it their all in both SND maps, but the Guerrillas came out victorious.
Player of the Match: Lacefield
Lacefield was a thorn in the side of Florida for all of the maps. Seemingly present literally everywhere, Lacefield was always able to either cut off a rotation or find the key frag to open up the Hardpoint or the flag. He will be a player to watch through this season.
