The Call of Duty League is getting nothing short of crazy as it gets later on in the season as the league is now in Stage 5 of its five-stage season. This stage, being just before the Call of Duty League World Championship. One thing in particular that is intensifying, is the CDL’s Rookie of the Year race.
The Rookie of the Year race is extremely close this year. The race includes some of the most talented players the league has ever seen. Players such as Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez, Jamie “Insight” Craven, and Eli “Standy” Bentz. All of whom made their professional debut earlier in the season.
Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez – The French Phenom
HyDra has always been in the Call of Duty community as he has been a professional for nearly five years. He started back in 2016 playing with a couple of friends at a regional tournament for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and the rest is history.
He, later on, joined four more teams as he dominated in the European League for Call of Duty for three years straight. This was the case all the way up until he joined Trainhard Esports, which are world-renowned for European talent in Call of Duty.
After getting noticed due to the special gun skill he has, the New York Subliners decided to sign him to their academy team. Until recently, being brought up to the senior team in which he is playing lights out playing as one of the best role players in the league.
Jamie “Insight” Craven – The London Eye
Insight, aka the London Eye, has been a menace on the main stage for the Toronto Ultra. However, things for this main AR were not always great, especially his start in the Call of Duty professional scene.
He got his start in Call of Duty Advanced Warfare six years ago playing for dCypher esports. He then went on a rampage playing for three different teams in the European Call of Duty scene like Hydra until finally making a huge step joining the huge Amateur team, Team Singularity.
After joining Team Singularity, he then went on to become a multiple tournament champion over the course of two Call of Duty seasons, dominating the European scene. This was until he got picked up and instantly set the Toronto Ultra for success breaking onto the season creating record-breaking numbers for himself.
Eli “Standy” Bentz – Beamer Bentz
Standy started his career in Call of Duty World War Two in 2017. He started in the amateur league playing for teams such as WestR and Aspire esports until finally landing on Triumph Esports a year ago. For nearly two years, Standy and his team were getting top 3 finishes over the course of that span.
Later on at the beginning of the Call of Duty Cold War season, after being noticed by many teams within the league. Standy got signed to the Minnesota Rokkr immediately going into a starting role because of it and is currently having the best season by a rookie in recent years.
Overall, this Rookie of the Year race is greatly intensifying as there are currently three players up for the award. Who knows what is to come in the coming stage as the groups in this stage are putting candidates for this award against each other.
