The Oakland Raiders have hired Mike Mayock to be their next GM according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Mayock, 60, has worked as an analyst covering college and pro football at different times since 2001. Most recently he has been working at NFL Network, where he helped cover the NFL Combine and the NFL Draft.
Jon Gruden talking Sunday about his new GM Mike Mayock: “He loves it. He’s a passionate, passionate personnel man. He’s done it for a long time. I know he’s had opportunities to get back into the NFL as a general manager and we’ll see what happens. We’ll see how the dust settles”

He also has experience as a player in the NFL, after being selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 10th round of the 1981 draft and playing for the New York Giants for the 1982-1983 seasons.
The Raiders will hope that head coach Jon Gruden and Mayock can work together to replenish some of the talent that they traded away this season in Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper. They have three first-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.
This season, the Raiders went 4-12 and missed the playoffs.
