The Music City Bowl has the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Tennessee Volunteers going up against each other. Both teams have some intriguing prospects that should make the bowl game very competitive. These are the prospects to watch in the Music City Bowl:
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Nathan Gerry, S
Projected Draft Range: Fifth round-seventh round
Gerry has great size at six feet two inches tall and 220 pounds. He has seven tackles for loss and does a great job in ball support. His coverage skills are great with four interceptions and eight passes defended on the season. With good size, run support and coverage, Gerry can improve his draft stock by displaying speed. He will have a good chance to improve his status in the minds of scouts by helping to shut down Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara.
Tennessee Volunteers
Derek Barnett, DE
Projected Draft Range: First round
Barnett is one of many great defensive ends in a deep draft class at the position. He is a great pass rusher with 12 sacks on the season. Barnett is solid in run support with 18 tackles for loss. He might be the best at swatting passes down at the offensive line in the class. He doesn’t have elite size at six feet three inches tall, but it will do. His production more than makes up for it.
Cameron Sutton, CB
Projected Draft Range: First round-third round
Sutton is a shut down corner back for the Volunteers. He needs to work on his ball skills with only one interception this year and one last season. Sutton also doesn’t help stop the run that well. At five feet eleven inches tall, Sutton has ok size. He may fit in more as a slot corner in the NFL. This is a deep corner class, so Sutton may have to wait to hear his name called at the 2017 NFL Draft.
