NFL Draft Prospects in the 2018 Walk-On’s Independence Bowl

The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. The bowl season schedule allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2018 Walk-On’s Independence Bowl.

Temple Owls Prospects

Rock Ya-Sin, CB

Ya-Sin is an interesting story, as he transferred to Temple from Presbyterian. He set several records during his time with the Blue Hose and proved his ability this season at Temple. This season he has 47 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions and 12 passes defended.

He has good measurables at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. His consistent play at two different levels of college football is intriguing.

Projected draft range: Fourth round-sixth round

Ventell Bryant, WR

Bryant has been the most talented receiver on the Owls’ roster for four seasons. In his career, he has 170 receptions for 2,424 yards and 10 touchdowns. This season he has racked up 48 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns.

At 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, Bryant has great size for a wide receiver. His production was inconsistent over the years at Temple, but so was the quarterback play.

Projected draft range: Fifth round-seventh round

Ryquell Armstead, RB

Over his time at Temple, Armstead has a lot of carries as a great running back. He has 573 carries for 2,812 yards and 34 touchdowns. In 2018 he has rushed for 1,098 yards and 13 touchdowns. At the moment, Armstead is questionable for this bowl game with an ankle injury.

He has a good build for a running back at 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds. Armstead has a chance to get drafted in the latter rounds of the draft.

Projected draft range: Fifth round-seventh round

Duke Blue Devils Prospects

*Cornerback Mark Gilbert is out for this game after having season-ending hip surgery. His projected draft range is third to fifth round.

Daniel Jones, QB

Jones is a big, athletic quarterback that has played well for the Blue Devils for the last few seasons. At Duke, he has passed for 7,778 yards, 47 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions on 59.5% completion. This season he has thrown for 2,251 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 games. He has also shown the ability to run the ball with 1,329 career rushing yards.

He is 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds which is the size most NFL evaluators want their quarterbacks to be. Jones is listed as questionable for this game after leaving the last game of the regular season with a lower-body injury.

Projected draft range: Second round-fourth round

Joe Giles-Harris, LB

Giles-Harris has really come on in the last three seasons for the Blue Devils. For his career, he has totaled 313 total tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, two interceptions, eight passes defended, one fumble recovery and one fumble forced. This season he has played in nine games with 81 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack and two passes defended.

At 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, Giles-Harris has solid size for the NFL. He’s questionable for this game with a knee injury.

Projected draft range: Fifth round-seventh round
