It is 11 weeks into the fantasy football season and the waiver wire is heating up. Any good champion will need to go to the waiver wire to acquire players to make their team even better. Here are the Fantasy Football: players to add for week 12. (All stats and rankings are for standard, non-decimal scoring)
1. Gus Edwards, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Edwards was largely unknown before the Ravens’ game against the Bengals. With Alex Collins not producing as much as expected, Edwards was thrust into the game and produced. He rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
There is some speculation on how the Ravens will use Collins and Edwards together and how much work they can both expect. Edwards also had a great game against a bad defense, but is still worth picking up, especially as injuries are piling up. He is available in virtually every ESPN league.
2. Josh Reynolds, WR, Los Angeles Rams
With Cooper Kupp out for the year, Reynolds stepped up in the Rams’ victory on Monday night. He finished the game with six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. This was the first big game of the year for Reynolds, but he will have many more opportunities down the line.
The Rams use the same players on a lot of snaps. They’ll use three wide receivers, one tight end and one running back on most plays. Reynolds will be the third receiver and therefore will have some opportunities down the stretch. He is owned in just 26% of ESPN leagues.
3. D.J. Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers
Moore had a big day against the Lions, hauling in seven catches for 157 yards and a touchdown. He has been up and down over the last four weeks, but is worth taking a flier on once again, as he should have earned more of Cam Newton’s trust.
The Panthers play a lot of bad pass defenses the rest of the season and Newton will be able to take advantage of that. With that, Moore should be more consistent for the playoff push. He is available in 68% of ESPN leagues.
4. Tre’Quan Smith, WR, New Orleans Saints
Smith has been on this list a couple of times throughout the season. This week though he had the most catches he has had in his young career. He finished the game against the Eagles with 10 receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown.
There is no way to guarantee that Smith will continue to see so many targets, but if the Saints are forced to throw, he will put up points. He is available in just under 90% of ESPN leagues.
5. Josh Adams, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles haven’t been able to run the ball well, but Adams was the most effective running back this weekend. He tallied seven carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. He also helped out in the passing game and should see more work after proving his worth.
Philly should go with the hot hand, but even if they do it may not produce great fantasy results. Adams has looked much better than the other running backs on the roster though and may be able to produce a spark. Heis owned in 28% of leagues.
6. Rashaad Penny, RB, Seattle Seahawks
After showing out against the Rams, Penny has faded back into a timeshare with Mike Davis and Chris Carson. He is still productive, as he had eight carries for 46 yards, which is solid as he produces a lot per touch.
There is no way to tell how much Penny will play the rest of the season. Being that he’s their first round pick, he should be playing more towards the end of the year. If they are eliminated from the playoffs soon, his play time should increase dramatically. He is worth a look now and is owned in 31% of ESPN leagues.
7. LaGarrette Blount, RB, Detroit Lions
Kerryon Johnson is week to week right now with an injury. In that time Blount will take over as the lead back, while Theo Riddick will be in on third downs. Riddick may outgain Blount in this game, as he has been ineffective the last few weeks, but Blount will get goal-line carries.
Against the Bears this week, it will be tough for anyone to pick up yards. It is hard to bank on a player getting a touchdown, but if the Lions get in the red zone, they have to feed Blount. Blount is available in over 90% of leagues.
8. Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Jackson got his first NFL start against the Bengals and helped the Ravens pick up the win. He is a threat with both his legs and his arm, making him an interesting fantasy play. Against Cincinnati, Jackson passed for 150 yards and rushed for another 117 yards.
While he did not score a touchdown in his first start, that will surely change soon. The Ravens have done a good job of adapting the offense to his skills, which bodes well for him. Baltimore won’t always get to play bad defenses like Cincinnati, but Jackson got his feet wet and can grow from this point. He is available in 78% of ESPN leagues.
