Texas running back CJ Baxter is expected to miss the 2024 season after injuring his leg in practice on Tuesday. He has torn his LCL and PCL in the injury and will require surgery. Anwar Richardson first reported the news.
Baxter is a former five-star recruit who played his freshman season for the Longhorns in 2023. His play helped Texas reach the College Football Playoff with 659 rushing yards, 156 receiving yards and five touchdowns. After Jonathon Brooks went down with an injury, Baxter was utilized more.
Texas will now turn to Jaydon Blue in the backfield, who had 398 rushing yards, 135 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2023.
