Mark Williams Duke
Williams had a tremendous close to his freshman season becoming a player who could be a breakout star next season. Furthermore, Williams has all of the traits to be great with his size, athleticism and finishing ability around the basket. Additionally, his overall efficiency is impressive at 66.4% and his effort on the offensive glass is very good. Next, he runs the floor great in transition potential as a trailer to the rim or getting ahead of the defense with his ability to get post positioning. His length allows him to grab all of the second chance opportunities along with his effort. The skill Williams has to finish around the basket with soft-touch is impressive and should only expand his game. Continued, the next step would be his use in ball screens and the mobility he can showcase. Also, the strength of Williams could improve to be an even more dominant post player. Now defensively, the improvement of his strength and mobility on the perimeter will help his defensive ability. Also, he has the length to be disruptive around the basket for opposing drives and post-ups. Williams has great potential to be one of the best bigs in the country.
Kerwin Walton North Carolina
Walton provided a spark for North Carolina adding perimeter shooting with a team lacking consistent shooting. Additionally, he does a very good job of spotting up on the perimeter as a knockdown shooter at 42.0% from three. Furthermore, he will be a consistent threat in transition with his ability to spot up. Also, an area where he could improve is his ability to make shots off the dribble more effectively. Next, he moves well without the basketball being able to come of PinDowns and have a quick release without being rushed. His size allows Walton to get shots up with ease over defenders. Walton will be a very dependable player for North Carolina providing consistent offense, however, could develop a more well-rounded game to be even more effective. He does have the size to be more effective on the ball defensively, but he needs to improve his lateral movement. Walton should have a very good offensive season next year for North Carolina.
Nahiem Alleyne Virginia Tech
Alleyne had a solid sophomore season for Virginia Tech with the potential to develop even further. Next, he has really good size and spots up well on the perimeter with a quick shot release at 40.8% from three. Additionally, he can be really productive in transition spotting up as a shooter off the catch and bounce. Also, he moves well off the basketball getting in scoring positions. His improvement needs to come with driving to the basket as a more consistent finisher. He has the potential to develop into a more complete scorer and be the go-to option for Virginia Tech. Now defensively, he plays with good activity and adds good lateral movement on the basketball. Also, his size and length add to his ability to be a good perimeter defender. Alleyne has the potential to develop into one of the best guards in the ACC next season.
Cam Hayes NC State
Hayes is really good with basketball and is capable of making plays happen on the open floor. He has really good quickness with the basketball allowing him to get to the basket, however, he needs to finish more effectively around the basket through the defense. Additionally, he shot the ball well from three 36.4% whether in transition or directly off the catch. Continued, he needs to be more efficient as a playmaker for others with limiting his turnovers. Also, he has the ability to be dynamic in ball screens being able to get to the rim or midrange. Hayes plays with a really good pace, if he can get been higher percentage shots it would help his overall efficiency. As for defensively, he brings really good activity on and off the basketball. Now, the improved positioning at times would increase his production defensively. Cam Hayes has the potential to elevate into one of the best guards in the ACC over time.
Samuell Williamson Louisville
Williamson had a good sophomore season and showed moments of his potential. Further, Williamson has very good size and good athleticism that makes him a physical driver and can finish around the basket effectively. Next, he is a decent shooter from the perimeter, who must improve to become a more dynamic offensive player. He’s got a quick first step which allows him to get to the lane and has the ability to pull up for short runners. The driving ability of Williamson will be his biggest strength for Louisville and should be dynamic in transition his overall activity and energy are very good. In addition, defensively he brings good size his lateral quickness and movement could improve to contain the basketball more often, as well as, getting in a better position off the ball to be more effective in help. Williamson should have a breakout season for Louisville.
