The Minnesota Rokkr came into the season with mediocre expectations. They have exceeded those expectations and then some. In their last three CDL appearances, they have reached the semi-finals, the finals and then the finals again. Their last finals run was tough as they fell to the Flordia Mutineers.
Ironically, this is who they will face in their first matchup next weekend. So is time for a bit of revenge? The Rokkr need to come in prepared because the Mutineers will be relaxed. They already have a home series win under their belt so there isn’t much pressure. The challenge for Florida is trying to stay towards the top of the CDL standings. So if they have pressure, they have that to worry about.
But for the Rokkr, since they have established themselves as an elite team, their pressure is greater. They’re checking a lot of boxes right now. Top their ranking, MVP caliber player (GodRx), and back-to-back finals appearances. It’s just a matter if they can get over the hump and get themselves a home series win. Their journey starts with a rematch with the eventual Dallas home series champion Mutineers.
Florida Mutineers: 9-6-0
As mentioned, Florida should be coming in with a more relaxed mindset, so the Rokkr must be prepared. Psychologically, a relaxed state can equal to more confidence in one’s abilities. With the Rokkr still looking for a home series win, the pressure will be on them to get revenge on the Mutineers. Fans should expect them to come in angry and hungry at the same time.
Fun fact of the day:
The Rokkr is one of only three teams in the CDL to reach the finals more than once. The others are the Dallas Empire (three appearances) and the aforementioned Florida Mutineers (two appearances).
Player to watch:
The play of Asim is going to be huge for the Rokkr. He’s a player who’s not going to light up the stat sheet but will do certain things to help his team win. He’s a very good communicator with quick instincts.
