The NFL season is already full of surprises, which makes it hard to pick winners. Cecil Walker and Joe DiTullio, of The Third and the Don Football Show, will do their best to try to predict the winners for every NFL game this season. Here are the NFL week 14 picks.
Thursday night: Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans
Joe- Jacksonville got back in the win column this week and have shown they don’t need a quarterback to win games. Tennessee is playing sloppy right now so the Jags can win an ugly Thursday Night Football.- Jaguars
Cecil- Neither team has looked good as of late, but I have to give it to the home team. They will at least take advantage of some turnovers by the Jaguars’ offense.-Titans
Sunday: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
Joe- Buffalo’s defense is playing well and with Josh Allen back the Bills should be able to win this game at home.- Bills
Cecil- The Bills are hard to beat in Buffalo and have somehow turned into a competitive football team with Josh Allen and a good defense. Unfortunately, this Jets team hasn’t come together as quickly with their rookie QB.-Bills
Carolina Panthers at Cleveland Browns
Joe- The Panthers are not playing well and just lost to the Bucs. They need to win this game to stay in the playoff picture. With a focus on this, the Panthers will come away with the win.- Panthers
Cecil- I almost want to go with the Browns in this one due to the skid the Panthers have been on. The Panthers have too much talent for this trend to continue and they will win if Cam Newton limits his turnovers.-Panthers
Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers
Joe- Green Bay now has a new coach, but it was a result of losing to the Cardinals. Aaron Rodgers shouldn’t let this team lose two home games in a row.- Packers
Cecil- Last week was such a let down at home for the Packers that Mike Mccarthy was rightfully let go. There is no way Aaron Rodgers loses two weeks in a row at home. Plus the Falcons high power offense will struggle in the cold climate.-Packers
Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs
Joe- Lamar Jackson or Joe Flacco? Either way, the Chiefs’ offense will be tested by the Ravens’ defense, but will prevail.- Chiefs
Cecil- The Ravens have little chance of winning no matter who is at QB. However, at least Lamar Jackson has the unpredictability to at least make things interesting.-Chiefs
New England Patriots at Miami DolphinsÂ
Joe- The Dolphins are having a nice year, but they don’t have the talent to beat the Patriots.- Patriots
Cecil- This matchup always ends up being close, but the Patriots always win in the end.- Patriots
New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Joe- Although they lost to the Cowboys on Thursday night, the extra days of rest will do the Saints some good. Drew Brees will carve up the defense.- Saints
Cecil- The Saints haven’t forgotten how they were upset by the Buccaneers to begin the season. Drew Brees will capitalize on a weak defense.-Saints
New York Giants at Washington Redskins
Joe- Mark Sanchez is back in pro football. Washington has some terrible luck with two season-ending injuries for their quarterbacks. The Giants are hot right now after their win over the Bears and should be able to pick up the road win.- Giants
Cecil- “The Sanchise” has returned, and that’s nothing any Redskins fan should be excited about. The Giants are on a roll and I expect that to continue.-Giants
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans
Joe- The Colts looked to be on fire before losing to the Jaguars on Sunday. They are still a threat to make the playoffs, but the Texans haven’t lost since week 3.- Texans
Cecil- The Texans continue to dominate on both sides of the ball as the Colts were shut out by the Jaguars. It will be a tough rivalry game, but the Texans have the edge.-Texans
Cincinnati Bengals at Los Angeles Chargers
Joe- The Chargers will win this game big.- Chargers
Cecil- The Bengals are in shambles and the Chargers look like Super Bowl contenders.-Chargers
Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers
Joe- The Broncos are making a run at the playoffs, while the 49ers would like to get the number one pick. Case Keenum just needs to protect the football.- Broncos
Cecil- The 49ers are just too plagued with injuries to stay competitive. The Broncos need to keep winning to stay in the wildcard hunt.-Broncos
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
Joe- Philadelphia is still not playing well and Dallas just got a jolt of confidence after beating the Saints. The winner of this game will likely win the division.- Cowboys
Cecil- The Eagles are another team that has been decimated by injuries. Meanwhile, the Cowboys just beat the best team in football and had a couple extra days of rest.-Cowboys
Pittsburgh Steelers at Oakland Raiders
Joe- Pittsburgh will play worse on the road, but won’t lose to the Raiders.- Steelers
Cecil-The Steelers will not blow out the Raiders because they are on the road. There is no chance they actually lose though.-Steelers
Detroit Lions at Arizona Cardinals
Joe- The Cardinals won’t get two straight wins over NFC North teams. If the Lions give the ball to Kerryon Johnson they will win the game.- Lions
Cecil- The Lions are a better team than the Cardinals, but I don’t trust Matthew Stafford to take care of the ball and Kerryon Johnson is banged up.-Cardinals
Los Angeles Rams at Chicago Bears
Joe- The Bears have been playing poorly without Mitchell Trubisky. If he does play they’ll have more of a chance, but the Rams will still win.- Rams
Cecil- This game will be a true test of the Rams offense. Assuming Mitchell Turbisky starts, I have to give the edge to the home team with an elite defense. If Chase Daniels starts, anything could happen.-Bears
Monday night: Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks
Joe- Having Dalvin Cook allows the Vikings’ offense to be dynamic. Kirk Cousins and co. will outscore the Seahawks.- Vikings
Cecil- Seattle is overperforming expectations with a power run game and the talent of Russell Wilson. The defense is shaky, but it should catch some breaks at home against a Vikings team that is traveling cross country.-Seahawks
