The NFL season is now in the back half of the schedule. Some teams are making a playoff push while others are preparing for the future. It is never too early to look ahead, so here is the 2019 NFL mock draft November 16.
1. Oakland Raiders- Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtXZdTuWnnU
Bosa has withdrawn from Ohio State to focus on the NFL Draft after suffering a core muscle injury. That may change his stock, but for now, he is one of the most gifted players in the class. He finishes his college career with 29 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks. The Raiders need help on every level of the defense and should take the best player available.
2. San Francisco 49ers- San Francisco 49ers- Ed Oliver, DT, Houston
Some have soured on Oliver, but he is still one of the most impressive players in college football. This class has so many good defensive linemen and Ed Oliver may be the best in the class. He does go to a school in the AAC, but that was by choice, as he got recruited by almost everyone. The 49ers should trade down to find a player that fits their needs, but if they can’t, Oliver will make them better.
3. Arizona Cardinals- Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama
Arizona addressed the offense in this year’s draft, but need to focus on the defense now. Williams has had the biggest rise so far. He went from being virtually unknown to showing he can be one of the most disruptive players in the draft class.
4. New York Giants- Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
The Giants need to cut ties with Eli Manning and honestly, it’s past due. They have the playmakers on offense but need to get the ball downfield. Herbert is the best quarterback in the class He has led Oregon to some big wins, but does have games in which he is turnover prone. He is especially good at getting the ball down the field.
5. New York Jets- Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson
While the Jets do have solid players on their defense they have to generate more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. They have just 22 on the season and Ferrell can help them in that department. He has 24 sacks over the last three seasons for Clemson.
6. Buffalo Bills- Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss
Last offseason, the Bills lost a lot from their offensive line. Eric Wood and Richie Incognito retired, while Cordy Glenn was traded to the Bengals. They’ll need to protect Josh Allen as much as possible next year. Little is now the unquestioned number one tackle prospect in the class with Trey Adams being out for the rest of the season.
7. Detriot Lions- Devin White, LB, LSU
White is a player who can do everything on the defensive side of the field. His biggest assets are his speed and physicality. The Lions could use a lot of help on defense and White could be a leader from day one.
8. Denver Broncos- Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
Denver needs a new quarterback, but might not want to pull the trigger after signing Case Keenum. They’ll definitely need to address it at some point. For this pick, they can take one of the best players available in Derrick Brown, who has a huge body to fill in the middle of the defensive line.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars- Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
The Jaguars are in such a unique situation. Blake Bortles at times is better than serviceable and other times looks like he needs to be replaced. They definitely have more issues than the quarterback position, but need to address it if Bortles doesn’t play better down the stretch. Lock isn’t a sure-fire franchise quarterback, but has shown flashes of potential throughout his career at Missouri.
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Josh Allen, LB, Kentucky
Tampa Bay’s offense has been mostly good this season with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. They may want to keep him for one more year and address the quarterback position in the loaded 2020 quarterback class. If they choose that route, they need to improve their defense. Allen is one of the best pass-rushers in the class, but also has the ability to drop back into coverage.
11. Cleveland Browns- Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State
The Browns can use some more interior defensive linemen and luckily for them, this class is loaded at that position. Simmons specializes in shutting down the run and already has 12.5 tackles for loss on the season.
12. Indianapolis Colts- Rashan Gary, DE/DT, Michigan
Andrew Luck finally has an offensive line that will protect him. The Colts still have a bad defense and need to fix that if they really want to compete again. Gary can play multiple positions across the defensive line and would be better than most of the defensive linemen already on the roster.
13. Oakland Raiders (via Dallas)- Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia
Baker has been Georgia’s number one corner for two seasons and is a threat to take it back to the house every time he gets the ball in his hands, much like he did against South Carolina. With already addressing the defensive line, the Raiders can really revamp their defense with this pick.
14. Seattle Seahawks- Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson
The Seahawks are running the ball well and need to revamp the defense now to help get them the ball back to control the clock. Dexter Lawrence will help stop the run with his athleticism. He even lines up on offense sometimes for Clemson.
15. Atlanta Falcons- Raekwon Davis, DE/DT, Alabama
Davis is a physical freak of nature at 6-foot-7 and 316 pounds and could greatly bolster the Falcons defensive line. He currently plays 3-4 defensive end, but could play 4-3 if asked.
16. Baltimore Ravens- Greedy Williams, CB, LSU
Williams is one of the most naturally talented corners in this draft class. The redshirt sophomore has eight interceptions in his young career and looks like he could even improve in the future if he works on his technique.
17. Philadelphia Eagles- Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
Diggs has had a good season, but is now out with a broken foot. His tape should still warrant a first-round selection. The Eagles weren’t great at corner to start the year and now have a bunch of injuries. They may want to add more depth at the position.
18. Miami Dolphins- Christian Wilkins, DE, Clemson
The Dolphins are somehow 5-5 on the season, despite not having great talent. Miami could use an upgrade in the middle of their defensive line and Wilkins is a good pass rusher from the inside.
19. Green Bay Packers- Zach Allen, DE, Boston College
When Boston College played Clemson, Allen displayed his pass rushing ability to the whole world. Allen has had two great years in a row and even outplayed former BC defensive end Harold Landry at times.
20. Tennessee Titans- Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma
Brown is the fastest wide receiver in this draft class. He has great acceleration and makes great cuts in the open field. Tennessee could use more weapons on offense, as they have struggled to move the ball at times this season.
21. Cincinnati Bengals, Cody Ford, G, Oklahoma
Cincinnati needs help on the offensive line and all over on defense. If they select Ford, he can help them run the ball and control the clock, which will help cover up their defensive deficiencies.
22. Minnesota Vikings- Montez Sweat, DE/OLB, Mississippi State
The Vikings’ defense hasn’t been as good as expected this season. Everson Griffen is now back, but they could still use more help for Danielle Hunter at pass rusher.
23. Houston Texans- Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama
The Texans have given up a lot of sacks and need to protect Deshaun Watson who is getting banged up. Williams hasn’t played as well as expected this season, but in a weak tackle class, will probably get drafted highly.
24. Washington Redskins- A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss
Brian Quick is playing at receiver for Washington. They need to get more help at the position. Brown is an athletic wide receiver who can produce if given the opportunity.
25. Oakland Raiders (via Chicago)- Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama
Alabama lost both safeties after last season, but Thompson has helped fill that void. The Raiders defense already beefed up the corner and defensive end position and with Thompson could really improve for next season.
26. Carolina Panthers- Amani Oruwariye, CB, Penn State
Oruwariye had four interceptions last season and has three this season, as he uses his length to his advantage. The Panthers have rookie Donte Jackson, who has played well, but need to get him help.
27. New England Patriots- Jerry Tillery, DE/DT, Notre Dame
Tillery has had a great career at Notre Dame and has been specifically effective this season. New England needs some more production out of their front seven.
28. Los Angeles Chargers- Mack Wilson, LB, Alabama
The Chargers are a team without many needs, but have suffered a lot of injuries. With Denzel Perryman out for the year, they may want to get another linebacker for next season.
29. Pittsburgh Steelers- Ken Webster, CB, Ole Miss
Joe Haden is aging and the Steelers need more good corners on the roster. Webster may be more of a day two prospect, but the Steelers usually draft players that fit what they want, which has surprised in the past (Terrell Edmunds last year).
30. Los Angeles Rams- Tre Lemar, LB, Clemson
There aren’t many needs for a team like the Rams. The linebackers could use an upgrade to complement the other players in the secondary and on the defensive line.
31. Kansas City Chiefs- Devin Bush, LB, Michigan
Bush is one of the fastest linebackers in college football, but is a bit undersized. The Chiefs could use him, as Reggie Ragland and Anthony Hitchens haven’t played great this season.
32. Green Bay Packers (Via New Orleans)- Dre’Mont Jones, DT, Ohio State
Green Bay has to give Aaron Rodgers a top 10 defense. When he had that, the Packers won the Super Bowl. Dre’Mont Jones has unique athleticism and a quick twitch for an interior player.
