The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2024 Rate Bowl.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights Draft Prospects
Kyle Monangai, RB
Monangai joined Rutgers in 2020, bu didn’t play much that season. He provided some value to the team in 2021 and 2022, but really broke out over these last two seasons. In 2024, Monangai rushed for 1,279 yards and 13 touchdowns.
He isn’t the tallest at 5-foot-9, but Monangai has a filled-out frame at 209 pounds. He has good quickness and contact balance, but he may have to prove that he can be more of a receiving threat at the next level. Monangai is undecided whether he is playing in this game. He is a projected mid to late-round pick.
Projected Draft Range: Fourth Round Pick-Sixth Round Pick
Hollin Pierce, OT
Pierce joined Rutgers in 2020, then entered the starting lineup in 2021 at right tackle. He has been a mainstay on the Rutgers offensive line since that point. In 2024, Pierce was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection, showing his quality play.
He is a large offensive tackle at 6-foot-8 and 344 pounds. With his size comes great power, which he can use to his advantage. There will be questions about his movement abilities and ability to maintain leverage. Pierce could be a late-round pick who could develop on an NFL roster.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
Other Draft Prospects: S Shaquan Loyal (6th-UFA), LB Tyreem Powell (6th-UFA), DL Malcolm Ray (UFA), WR Dymere Miller (UFA), EDGE Aaron Lewis (UFA), CB Robert Longerbeam (UFA), LB Mohamed Toure (UFA)
Kansas State Wildcats Draft Prospects
Jacob Parrish, CB
Parrish is a Kansas kid who joined Kansas State in 2022. He played as a reserve that season, but hopped into the starting lineup in 2023. He was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention last season and this year. In 2024, he registered seven passes defended and one interception.
He isn’t the biggest corner at 5-foot-10 and 198 pounds, but Parrish has played well despite that. Parrish has shown good ball skills and instincts during his career. He has experience on special team, which can help him. Parrish is a projected mid to late-round pick.
Projected Draft Range: Fourth Round Pick-Sixth Round Pick
Easton Kilty, OT
Kilty started his career at North Dakota at the FCS level. He played well enough to enter the transfer portal after the 2023 season and joined Kansas State. In 2024 with the Wildcats, Kilty was named All-Big 12 Second Team for his play.
At 6-foot-6 and 309 pounds, Kilty has solid size for the position. He adjusted well from the FCS level to the Big 12, which is a good sign. His experience at guard and tackle should only help his value, as NFL teams could move him around.
Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent
*RB D.J. Giddens has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected mid to late-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Other Draft Prospects: EDGE Brendan Mott (6th-UFA), WR Dante Cephas (UFA)
