The 2024-25 NFL season has begun which means fantasy football is back! The fantasy landscape has already changed since the preseason due to breakout players and major injuries across the league. This makes it the appropriate time of year to begin deferring from some of the players originally drafted to be starters and play some of the players that have overperformed this season as opposed to performing at their preseason expectation. Since every week is important it would be irresponsible to start a player with a rough matchup over a player with a more favorable one that is ranked or projected to perform similarly. Here are fantasy football Week 4 tight end rankings.
[Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to Injured Reserve List]
[Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week]
Key:
Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They Will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.
Starting TE1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a solid floor.
TD Dependent Starter- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not because of depth at the position. Their production is based on whether they can get in the end zone or not. It can be the difference between a top 10 performance or a top 25 performance
Deep League Starter- a player whose ceiling isn’t high but should put up enough production to be started in deep leagues. When a player like this is started it is because their production though it will likely be low, will be better than a few options.
Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Players that could miss this week’s game
TE19 Noah Fant, Seattle Seahawks
Noah Fant was limited in practice all week with a toe injury. This injury has been bothering him for weeks. If Fant misses Week 4 against the Detroit Lions Pharaoh Brown will be the starting tight end for the Seahawks.
Players that are currently not expected to play
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals
Trey McBride suffered a concussion last week against the Detroit Lions. He has been ruled out for this week’s game against the Washington Commanders. While McBride is out Elijah Higgins is expected to elevate into the starting tight end role for the Cardinals.
Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars
Evan Engram will now miss his third straight game due to a hamstring injury suffered just before Jacksonville’s Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns. While Engram is out former second round pick Brenton Strange will continue to start for Jacksonville. Strange has been a solid streaming option for fantasy managers while Engram has been out.
David Njoku, Cleveland Browns
David Njoku will miss his third straight game because of an ankle injury. Jordan Akins has been starting in place of Njoku the past few weeks. However the tight end spot for the Browns have not generated a lot of value for fantasy managers in Njoku’s absence.
Michael Mayer, Las Vegas Raiders
Michael Mayer has been ruled out of this week’s game against the Cleveland Browns with a personal matter. Veteran Harrison Bryant is expected to see the snaps Mayer took for the Raiders while Mayer is out.
