As graduation season rolls around in the US, many schools celebrate their students with superlatives. Usually taking the form of funny jokes or compliments, superlatives can be a fun way to recognize certain students and bestow different titles: Best Dressed, Most Likely to Become Famous, or Class Clown.
While League of Legends may not have graduation, what it does have is a group of fun characters. Additionally, League also has a recurring series of balance changes, and an ever-evolving meta. Which champions have been changed the most in 2024, and in what ways? If we had League of Legends Superlatives, who would claim them?
So, whether players want to amaze friends with League trivia, learn some random fun facts, or simply celebrate their own graduation, League of Legends Superlatives can do it all.
Keep in mind, though, this list is just for fun. Creating balance is incredibly difficult, and some champions are bound to need more adjustments than others. But, it is interesting to see who has changed, and in what ways. Analyzing these changes can reveal some interesting statistics, and show fun facts about how champions have evolved over time. Read on to find out.

Most Balance Changes Received Overall: Triple Tie!
There are three champions who have received the most balance changes so far this year. Each of these champions has been changed a total of four times, putting them at the top of the list.
While they all had four “changes,” the types of changes they received were different. Each received at least one buff and one nerf. Smolder and Rek’Sai also got two lateral adjustments, while Karma received an extra nerf and buff.
Most Buffs
Hwei is the reigning champion of 2024 buffs, having received three over the course of the year so far. Hwei was buffed in patches 14.1, 14.2, and 14.8. Additionally, this means that every change he has received so far this year has been a buff.
These buffs have put him in a much better spot than before. His current win rate is 48.5%, but back in January it had dipped all the way down to 44%. So, over the course of the year he has experienced a +4.5% change in win rate, and it seems to be well-deserved. Hopefully Hwei’s win rate will continue to stabilize, and maybe he might even receive another buff in the future.
Most Nerfs: Mega Tie
Unlike with buffs, there is no clear winner of who has been nerfed the most. Top contenders include Azir, Briar, Zac, Fiora, Volibear, Twisted Fate, Maokai, Brand, and Senna. Each of these champions has received two nerfs so far this year, meaning that the title is not quite as competitive as Hwei’s three buffs above. However, whomever is nerfed next will claim the title.
Most Adjustments
Both Rek’Sai and Smolder received two adjustments throughout 2024 (so far). Additionally, players who consider Skarner’s VGU an “adjustment” could also add him to this list, but that seemed like a much larger change than the scope of a regular adjustment.
So, that leaves Smolder and Rek’Sai as the champions of this category. Interestingly, they both also received the most balance changes overall. Looks like their adjustments contributed a lot to their appearance in the “most overall” category.
Final Thoughts (& Stats)
Champion balance must be working pretty well, because there was only a clear winner in one category. Overall, while it seems that there are a couple champions that have needed more love than others so far this year, the vast majority of changes are balanced out between many different champions.
Some other interesting statistics:
- 82 champions were changed in total.
- There were 45 nerfs, 71 buffs, and 17 adjustments.
- There have been two new champions: Smolder and VGU Skarner.
These numbers will only continue to change as the year progresses. But for now, Smolder, Rek’Sai, and Hwei seem to have been some of the most important champions in terms of maintaining balance.
