The LCS 2024 season is about to begin. This offseason was a doozy for the league as three teams left in TSM, Evil Geniuses and Golden Guardians. Only one of those spots were filled with Shopify Rebellion taking over TSM’s slot and the LCS was cut down to eight teams. But now fans are wanting to know more about their team as we head toward the start of the season. Here is The Game Haus’ NRG 2024 LCS Spring Split Preview.

2023 Summer Review
It was a banner first split for NRG. Taking a lot of what CLG had previously built, NRG felt ready to make some noise. Then, they finished 9-9 with plenty of games where they looked incredibly strong and others where they looked lost. Yet, once the playoffs started, NRG really found their footing.
They took down TL and GG before losing 3-0 to C9. Many thought this would be it for NRG and their Cinderella run. Then they beat TL again 3-2 and wiped C9 3-1 for their first LCS championship.
The run wouldn’t end there as NRG would go into Worlds 2023 and take down TL, MAD and G2 in order to qualify in the new Swiss bracket. Ultimately they would go on to lose to Weibo Gaming 0-3 during Knockouts but it was an incredible 2023 Summer for NRG.
2024 Spring Split Roster
Top- Dhokla
Jng- Contractz
Mid- Palafox
Bot- FBI
Sup- huhi
With NRG’s name fully established, they decided to keep the squad mostly intact as they look to defend their title. The entire team is back with the exception of IgNar who they replaced with the arguably stronger huhi. Not only is huhi one of the best supports in the LCS, he also has paired very well with FBI in the past. It feels like a match made in heaven for this NRG team.
2024 Spring Split Player to Watch: Palafox
There is no doubt that Palafox finally lived up to his potential in 2023. After so many ups and downs, the mid laner truly came into his own. The onus will now be on him to show that he was not a one-hit wonder. He was key during NRG’s run last season and they will need to see him getting small leads in lane and punishing their opponents in the side lanes if they are going to win games.
His synergy with Contractz and Dhokla will be crucial to the team’s success. With the Void Grubs being such a focus, it is hard not to see how much focus the top side of the map will get. Palafox will need to be involved in securing as many objectives as possible. Something, he is frankly very good at.
Predicted Spring Placement: 2nd
Look, this is not a knock on NRG, they are easily the team that plays the best team League of Legends in the LCS. The problem is that C9 looks like they may just be in another universe with the players they have. That being said, generally, the team that plays best together wins and NRG should have that in spades.
The addition of huhi is massive and one that could see NRG’s bot lane being the strongest in the LCS. There are still questions surrounding if this team really is the team we saw in New Jersey and at Worlds. They can squash all of these questions by continuing to be a strong squad and making a deep run in the playoffs once more.
