The Rams are looking for a veteran solution at the kicker position, and might have found one. 39-year-old Mason Crosby is signing with the Rams’ practice squad, with the expectation that he’ll be moved up to the active roster in short order.
Mike Garafolo reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Crosby was the kicker for the Green Bay Packers for 16 years before the team moved on from him this season. During his time there, he became the all-time leading scorer for the Pack, totaling 1,918 points. In fact, in 2007, he was the NFL scoring leader.
In 2022, Crosby he made 25 of 29 field goals, good enough for a field goal percentage of over 86. Three of those four misses came from 50-plus yards. He also made 37 of 39 extra points, as well. He’ll be one of the oldest players in the league once he suits up for a game with the Rams.
