Despite being over a decade in age, League of Legends is still receiving innovative quality of life improvements. And a relatively recent change in the game has the community singing the developers praise.
Players now receive 5 gold upon pinging a ward. After being pinged, it leaves a ward icon thereby notifying teammates of its presence.

“The 5 gold when you ping a ward has got to be one of the best additions to League in recent times,” one player praised.
Though a seemingly insignificant amount of gold, this incentivizes ward control and communication in a way where it facilitates cooperation among the team.
This measly 5 gold stacks. It could very realistically be the difference between waiting in fountain for the extra 10 gold versus running straight off to lane. And as most veteran League of Legends players know, this could be potentially game changing.
Getting to lane earlier means better wave control. Better wave control means better farming, more gold, and more snowballing. The amount isn’t nearly enough to warrant a broken mechanic, but it definitely helps the overall gameplay state significantly.
Considering League of Legends is a game where disagreements and toxicity has become a norm, a gameplay change helping facilitate communication for the better was much appreciated by the community.
“Even not duoing just seeing a ward be put down and instantly like 10 pings on its is hilarious in its one way,” another states.
A user replied, “then the rush of dopamine if you were the one who got the gold and you get to spam ping your reward.”
