The 2023 MLB season is warming up as pitchers and catchers have officially reported, and spring training draws closer. In this series of articles, TGH is going to be giving an early look at every team’s projected pitching rotations ahead of Opening Day on March 30. Here is the 2023 pitching rotation for the Milwaukee Brewers.
**Note: As these are very early projections, the pitching rotations are subject to change before the season officially begins.**
Brewers 2022 Season Review
The Milwaukee Brewers posted a record of 86-76 in 2022, which was good enough for second in the NL Central. They ended up finishing just two games shy of the second Wild Card spot. It was their first year missing the postseason since 2017.
2023 Projected Pitching Rotation
1. Corbin Burnes
2022 stats: 12-8, 2.94 ERA, 202.0 IP, 66 ER
Burns led the league in games started last year (33), along with strikeouts (243). He was an All-Star and finished seventh in Cy Young voting.
2. Brandon Woodruff
2022 stats: 13-4, 3.05 ERA, 153.1 IP, 52 ER
Woodruff has had two All-Star seasons, in 2019 and 2021. Last season, he posted the second-best ERA and strikeout total of his career.
3. Eric Lauer
2022 stats: 11-7, 3.69 ERA, 158.2 IP, 65 ER
Lauer pitched the highest innings total of his five-year career in 2022. His workload is increasing, and his statistics should start to settle in this season after posting another 150-plus inning season.
4. Freddy Peralta
2022 stats: 4-4, 3.58, 78.0 IP, 31 ER
Peralta’s innings total took a step back last year, by almost 50 percent. In 2021, with 144.1 innings pitched, he posted the lowest ERA of his career. If he gets the chance to be a workhorse this year, he could pay big dividends.
5. Wade Miley
2022 stats: 2-2, 3.16 ERA, 37.0 IP, 13 ER
Miley only got to start eight games, appearing in just nine during his only season with the Cubs. He also pitched the lowest innings total of his career.
