Defensive back Andrew Wingard is returning to Jacksonville with a brand new contract. Reports indicate that the Jaguars and Wingard have agreed to a deal worth $9.6 million over the next three years. He was a restricted free agent in this offseason.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Wingard went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, but was scooped up by the Jaguars ahead of the season. After the signing, he managed to make the final 53-man roster, and has only missed a total of five games for the team since.
In 2022, Wingard played in all 17 games, starting three of them. He had one interception, one pass defense, one forced fumble and 37 combined tackles. During the 2021 season, when he started every game in which he played, he had 88 combined tackles.
