Defensive back Danny Johnson is re-signing with the Washington Commanders. His new deal is reportedly worth $7 million over two years, with only $2.75 million guaranteed. He’s worked his way up from undrafted, to contract-worthy.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero announced the news on Monday.
Johnson was signed in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. His signing in that year means he has been with the team through all three of their recent monikers. He played his college ball at Southern University, and did perform at the NFL Draft Combine.
On defense, Johnson played in 11 games, starting in four. He had one sack, nine pass defenses, 29 combined tackles and one interception. While he has been used as a returner in the past, he remained on defense last season.
