A month before Overwatch League teams battle against Contenders competitors, the Atlanta Reign have made another roster move in this 2023 preseason. On Tuesday Febrauary 21, the Atlanta Reign announced the signing of former Talon tank Kim “Donghak” Min-sung to the roster. Donghak spent the past Contenders season with Team 815 where they qualified for the Contenders Korea Run it Back bracket. Unfortunately Team 815 would finish the round robin 0-7.
Donghak joins the Reign after a relatively successful career in Korean Contenders. Despite the tragic finish in the most recent Contenders run, Donghak has produced solid results with Talon. His talents on Wrecking Ball have made OWL teams take notice. Atlanta appears to be the team wit the fastest trigger finger, and made sure to snatch up the rookie main tank player just a month before the Pro-Am in March.

The signing does come at an interesting time in the offseason. Atlanta announced their initial roster back in January, with the only tank being Xander “Hawk” Domceq. Teams had been split on the idea of having two tanks to share the workload last year. However with the success the Dallas Fuel saw in the Grand Final bracket using two tanks, the rest of the could follow suit. The Atlanta Reign join the Boston Uprising as the first two teams to hold two tanks on their roster. With about half the league still looking to add players, it’s unclear just how many teams have the space for an additional player.
