For many in the LEC community 2023 brings with it more than a new season, it brings about a fresh start for their teams as they attempt to perform internationally. Most of the teams completely rehauled their teams from their 2022 rosters, yet again. They are either looking to start anew or build their roster to compete for an LEC title and Worlds contention. That said, fans are likely wondering, what is the 2023 LEC Spring Split Start Date?

The LEC has gone through major changes for the 2023 season. For starters, it is now the EMEA region or LoL EMEA. This is akin to the VALORANT VCT name change as well. Then there will be three Splits in 2023 instead of two. They will be six-week Splits that have 1 BO1 round-robin, followed by a BO3 tournament for the 8 teams that finished the highest. Then the top four teams will have a BO5 double-elimination tournament. If that seems confusing, check out the official announcement here.
The Summer Split ended with Rogue finally winning their first-ever Championship. The team surprised everyone by sweeping G2 in the finals. They would go on to play well at Worlds and be the only western team to make it out of Groups. While they would get swept by JDG, many fans were still pleased by their performance.
The LEC/EMEA certainly has one of the oddest schedules going forward. They will essentially get two Splits out of the way before MSI even starts. Then they will finish their Summer Split and head into the final tournament which is called the “Season Finals”. This will consist of the top 6 teams based on championship points throughout the entire 2023 season. If a team wins two of the three Splits then they are guaranteed at least the fourth seed going into the Summer Finals. If a team wins all three Splits then they are guaranteed at least the lowest seed for EMEA at Worlds 2023.
Again this is all a bit confusing but should hopefully lead to more exciting games and matches that will matter more heading forward.
The LEC 2023 Season Start will be January 21.
