Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 12. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
1. Isiah Pacheco, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Pacheco was the starting running back for the Chiefs and he played well in week 11. He finished the game with 15 catches for 107 yards. While he failed to find the end zone or register a catch, Pacheco is getting plenty of work in a high-powered offense.
The Chiefs have recently turned things over to the rookie Pacheco, so he could continue to improve as the season goes on. The 7.1 yards per carry he averaged against the Chargers were the most he has put up all season. He is currently rostered in just 43.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Gus Edwards, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Edwards is the player who has most frequently appeared on this list. He was recovering from a torn ACL earlier this season, then returned before having a hamstring injury. Edwards had to leave the game against the Buccaneers and missed the Ravens week 9 game against the Saints.
Edwards missed the game against the Panthers in week 11. With J.K. Dobbins still on IR, Edwards should get most of the work out of the Ravens’ backfield. In his one game where he was fully healthy he had 66 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He is available in nearly two-thirds of ESPN leagues.
3. Samaje Perine, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
In week 11, Joe Mixon left the Bengals’ game against the Steelers with a concussion. Samaje Perine picked up the slack for Cincinnati. He finished the game with 30 rushing yards, 52 receiving yards and three touchdown catches in relief.
The reason that Perine is not higher on this list, is that Mixon seemed to be in good spirits after the win. It looks like he will be able to play, but it is a situation to monitor. Adding Perine and awaiting the status of Mixon in week 12 is a smart idea. He is rostered in just 3.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Latavius Murray, RB, Denver Broncos
After trading for Chase Edmonds, the Broncos’ running back room was pretty full. Edmonds was injured early in the game against the Raiders in week 11. Murray then stepped back in to help. He finished week 11 with 17 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. He also caught four passes for 23 yards.
Edmonds’s injury is worth watching. Even if he misses time, Murray will split time with Melvin Gordon. With the split, he is still worth picking up and rostering. He is currently available in over 65 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Treylon Burks, WR, Tennessee Titans
Treylon Burks returned from his foot injury in week 10 against the Broncos. He didn’t have the most production in that game, but did increase his output in week 11. Against the Titans, Burks had seven catches for 111 yards.
Now that he is healthy, Burks is showing why the Titans drafted him. He has good size and speed to make himself a matchup problem. As teams lock down on Derrick Henry and the running game, he should see his fair share of opportunities. Burks is available in 22.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
