The Arizona Cardinals have officially signed Rodrigo Blankenship to their active roster from their practice squad. He is their third kicker on the year after Matt Prater went down due to injury and Matt Ammendola failed to perform after being named the starter.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Blankenship was signed to the Colts as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2020 season. He was the Georgia Bulldogs’ kicker from 2015-2019 and won the Lou Gorza Award for being the best kicker in college football in December 2019. He never missed an extra point in college.
The Colts dropped Blankenship from their roster after missing a field goal and kicking two kickoffs out of bounds in Week 1’s tie with the Texans. On his career, he has gone 47-56 on field goals and 54-58 on extra points. His long is 53 yards.
