Two of the biggest transfers from the two biggest clubs in England have already been completed. Strikers always get the glory and the biggest fanfare when they arrive at a club and the arrival of Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland is no different. Both Liverpool and Manchester City know they have immense talents on their hands and know that these two could be the difference come the end of the season as both City and Liverpool look to be near on inseparable.
With both bright young talents looking to take England by a storm, much like the best trading platforms, they will be hoping that they are the best at the end of the season personally and collectively for their club.
Erling Haaland
Starting with the Champions first, Haaland was snapped up when his release clause nearly halved his transfer fee. Despite still demanding big wages and agent fees, Haaland feels a bit of a steal at £51.2 million.
The Norwegian international is a monster of athleticism and has made mincemeat of each league he has been in. Since the age of 15 he has been playing professional football starting with Norwegian club Byrne. He dialed to score in his debut season but that did not stop Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signing him for Molde.
At Molde he scored 14 goals across two seasons before joining Red Bull Salzburg where quickly racked up another 17 goals in the league from just 16 appearances. Dortmund came calling and Haaland answered it with 62 league goals in just 67 games over two and a half seasons.
City needed a new centre forward and they have a complete one who is strong, quick and knows how to thunder a ball home into the net. They will also appreciate his experience in Europe as he already has 27 European goals (10 in Champions League) at just 21 years old.
Darwin Nunez
Liverpool were just pipped to the post by Manchester City and they are not wanting that to happen again. They have let Sadio Mane leave and Roberto Firmino is not going to score 20 plus goals this year. So they decided to purchase Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a whopping potential £85 million but it could certainly be worth it.
Nunez is lightning quick and his quick burst of acceleration can lead defenders for dead. He is also an intelligent footballer and like the best in the game he is always scanning for space; the Uruguayan has been likened to his compatriot Edinson Cavani.
Nunez rose up through ranks of Penarol and burst onto the scene with Almeria where bagged 16 goals in his only season with the club missing out on promotion in the play offs. Benfica came calling and Nunez really lit the world alight last season by grabbing 26 league goals in 28 games.
Who will do better in England?
Both will take some time to adjust to the style of play but Haaland’s strength could make him a huge problem for defenders. Although Nunez is a quality player, he may take a bit longer than Haaland to adjust to the game.
There is no question though that both of them will be big successes for their respective clubs.
